Discover the ways to get Water, an essential source of survival, in Endnight Games’ survival horror title The Forest.
The Forest is a survival horror masterpiece by Endnight Games. The crafting and base-building game puts players in the tough situation of surviving a deadly forest alone. Fulfilling your basic needs, such as hunger and thirst, is the most essential part of survival in The Forest. Obtaining food is a little easier; however, that’s not the case for water.
You may come across various sources of water, such as ponds, throughout your journey. Although drinking water from a pond satiates your thirst meter, it has a negative effect and harms your health. So you need clean water to survive in The Forest. Don’t worry, as there are several ways to get clean water in Endnight Games’ survival horror game.

Ways To Get Clean Water in The Forest
1) Collect Rain Water With a Water Collector
First, let’s start with the easier way. Similar to real life, you can collect and drink rainwater in The Forest. Sounds easy, right? However, you need to craft a specific structure called a Water Collector to do so. It allows you to collect rainwater, which is entirely safe to drink. You need 4 sticks and a turtle shell to make a Water Collector. These turtle shells can be obtained by slaying turtles and tortoises, which usually spawn on beach shores.
However, note that a Water Collector is a passive way of obtaining water, as it collects rainwater automatically only if it rains. You can drink the water from the Water Collector directly or store it using a Waterskin. The Waterskin, created with 2 deer skins and a rope, is a portable item that allows you to drink water from it whenever you need it on your journey.
2) Boil Polluted Water With an Old Pot
Another way to obtain clean water is by boiling polluted water collected from ponds and lakes. This requires a specific item called an Old Pot, found at 5 locations on the bottom left of the map. It is usually found near tents at camps or campsites. Once you get your hands on one of these Old Pots, use it to collect polluted water from water sources such as ponds and lakes.
Then, set a fire and place the Old Pot filled with polluted water on it to boil. It will take a while to boil. Once completed, you can drink the water directly from the pot, or you can save it for the future using a Waterskin, similar to the Water Collector.
