Dragon Quest 3 Remake doesn’t let you level up quickly due to the restrictions its main quests impose on you. Players can level up as they progress through the story. However, they might find it difficult to become a powerhouse outside of the main story.

However, there are ways to achieve this. The game gives us some freedom to develop the character and the rest of the party while exploring the world outside of the main quests. Preordering the game was one way to do so.

Those who preordered Dragon Quest 3 Remake got access to Elevating Shoes. Wearing these multiplies the XP your character gains with every step. So, exploration would reward you. However, if you don’t have access to these premium footwear, we have other solutions for you.

Farming to Level Up Faster

One of the best ways to farm XP in Dragon Quest 3 without the magic shoes is to fight a lot of Metal Slimes. You probably won’t encounter a lot of them until you have hit Level 20 in the game. This shouldn’t be that big of a deal since the initial quests in the game will boost you to Level 10 without much grind.

Whenever you can find a Metal Slime farm, you have hit a jackpot. These mobs give away lots of experience when killed. However, fighting them can be a little tricky at first but if you have a Martial Artist character in your party, it wouldn’t be too much of an issue. Of course, combine it with other advantages like a Puff Spell or Poison Needle to increase your chances of winning each time.

You can find plenty of these creatures in the Tower of Transcendence. Killing each one will grant you 4,140 experience. Visit the tower if you are in the early or mid-game. If you have already reached the later part of the game, visit Rimuldar instead. There are Liquid Metal Slimes here which offer 40,200 XP when killed.

Other areas like the first floor of the Cave of Jipang, Baramos’ Castle, Zoma’s Citadel, and Citadel Tower are all home to either Metal Slimes or Liquid Metal Slimes.
