Everything you need to know about the Maximization trophy in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, including its requirements and how to unlock.

Maximization is easily one of the most confusing trophies in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. On the surface, the requirement of the trophy is fairly straightforward — using Sciel, consume 20 Foretell on a single target during Twilight. However, whenever you cast Foretell on an enemy, it gets used up almost instantly upon the next turn you play as Sciel. This not only makes it incredibly difficult to stack Foretell, but also time it right during Twilight.
Sciel, much like Lune, features a very complex combat system. While you can use her without delving too deep into her abilities, Twilight, Foretell, Sun and Moon phases, etc., it’s not the ideal way to play the character. Additionally, not knowing how to properly use Sciel’s combat system can be one of the biggest hindrances to unlocking the Maximization trophy. However, there’s a really simple method to get this trophy unlocked, and that too quite early in the game.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Maximization trophy in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, and how to easily unlock it.
Requirements for the Maximization Trophy in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

To unlock the Maximization trophy, you need to use Sciel and cast Foretell. Once you stack up to 20 Foretell on the enemy, you need to consume it in a single turn, albeit during Twilight. Although it sounds simple, stacking 20 Foretell is easier said than done, especially in Acts 1 and 2. Thankfully, there’s a weapon as well as skills that can help you immensely towards this trophy.
Using the Chation for Sciel, you can easily stack 20 Foretell in two turns. However, to do so, you first need to cast Phantom Blade to switch over to Twilight. With the right combination of skills and weapons, you can easily unlock this trophy in 3 turns. Here are the steps to unlock Maximization:
- Equip only Sciel as the active member of your party.
- At the start of an encounter, cast Focused Foretell. This will apply 10 Foretell on the enemy.
- Next, cast Phantom Blade to switch over to Twilight.
- On your next turn, once again cast Focused Foretell to stack 20 Foretell on the enemy.
- Defeat the enemy to unlock the Maximization trophy.
How To Get Chation in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

The reason we chose Chation for this trophy is because of its Level 4 perk. Chation comes with the primary perk where using Sun Skills always applies 10 Foretell, with the only downside of increasing the amount of damage received. Since Sciel is already more or less a “glass canon” type of character, equipping Chation doesn’t really have a major impact on her combat. Furthermore, you can offset the additional damage received with Pictos.
Another major reason why we chose Chation is that you can obtain this weapon fairly early in the game. You can get the Chation in Act 1 in the Stone Wave Cliffs, right before the Lampmaster boss fight. You can find this weapon near the destroyed airship that you come across on your way to the Lampmaster boss fight.
Follow the path to the right near the destroyed airship until you reach a tunnel. Progress through the tunnel and cross the platforms on the side. You will eventually reach a duo of Greatsword and Reaper Cultists. Defeat the Cultist enemies and you will receive the Chation. If you miss out on getting the Chation in Act 1, you can still grab it in The Monolith (Act 2) or Flying Manor (Act 3).
