Everything you need to know about the overpowered build for Verso in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, and how to one-shot bosses, using it.

Verso in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is an incredibly powerful character, capable of “one-shotting” bosses with some of his endgame skills. Despite featuring a rather unique combat system, Verso’s skills and progression are quite easy to understand. He’s a character that feels pulled right out of games like Devil May Cry or Final Fantasy 16.
Similar to the “Style Rank” system in Devil May Cry, Verso employs a “Rank System” in his combat. As you deal damage to and parry enemies, Verso gains Perfection Ranks, which allow you to use special skills. Furthermore, Perfection Ranks also increase the overall damage output of base attacks. By using Verso’s Rank System, you can technically one-shot bosses—provided you have the proper build.
Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to craft an incredibly overpowered build for Verso and use it to one-shot bosses in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
Overview of Verso’s One-Shot Build in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

For Verso’s build, the primary focus is on damage, Phantom Stars, and Critical Rate. To maximize damage, we’re going with the Chevalam weapon due to its Level 4 and Level 10 perks. With Chevalam, you start the battle with an S Rank right off the bat. Follow this up with buffs from other party members, as well as Verso’s own skills, and you can significantly increase the damage dealt by this one skill. Furthermore, Phantom Stars synergizes really well with S Rank Perfection.
Essentially, if you are at S Rank, the requirement for casting Phantom Stars is reduced from 9 AP to 5 AP. Pairing this up with Cheater, you get to cast Powerful and Phantom Stars one after the other.
In terms of attributes, we are going to focus purely on damage. As such, we’re investing all the points into Agility, Might, and Luck—the attributes that Chevalam scales with. Let’s take a look at different elements of Verso’s one-shot build.

How To Use Verso’s One-Shot Build on Bosses

Similar to Maelle’s one-shot build, using Verso is quite straightforward. At the start of your turn, cast Powerful. After Powerful, cast Overload—this will trigger both Shortcut and Glass Canon. After Overload, cast Phantom Stars to immediately finish off bosses. You can swap Phantom Stars with End Bringer based on the number of enemies you are targeting.
Phantom Stars is best used for multiple enemies, whereas End Bringer is ideal for a single target. Additionally, if you are looking for an alternative to Chevalam, Simoso, which is obtained after defeating Simon, is a great option.
