Pressure and Stagger are the most vital aspects of combat in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Here’s everything you need to know.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s combat placed heavy emphasis on pressuring and staggering enemies. Its sequel, Rebirth, carries forward this aspect of combat.
Figuring out how to Pressure and Stagger enemies is vital for defeating the many challenging foes in the game. And so, here is a guide to help you with just that.
How To Pressure Enemies
Pressured is a condition that can be inflicted on enemies that allows them to be Staggered more easily. Different enemies have different conditions to be Pressured.
Some can be Pressured by utilising their elemental weakness, while others require damage from a Synergy Ability. Some others have unique conditions like countering or interrupting certain attacks.
To figure out how you can Pressure a certain enemy, use the Assess Materia. This Materia reveals many details about enemies, including their weaknesses, resistances, and how to Pressure them.
How Does Stagger Work
The Stagger Gauge is an orange bar located directly below the HP bar of an enemy. This bar gets filled when you deal damage to the enemy. Certain abilities like Cloud’s Focused Thrust fill up the Stagger Gauge to a greater extent. The enemy gets Staggered once the Stagger gauge is full. When this happens, the character who Staggered the enemy has their limit gauge filled up.
Staggered enemies fall prone and are unable to take any actions. However, the most important aspect of this condition is that the Staggered enemy takes significantly increased damage. A damage multiplier appears next to the Stagger Gauge for the duration of the condition. This opportunity should be taken to deal as much damage as possible by using all your most powerful moves.
Moves To Use During Stagger
Tifa’s Unbridled Strength ability is able to increase the damage multiplier. Using her ATB charges increases her Chi level. After this, using special attacks like Omnistrike and Rise and Fall will increase the multiplier. This causes Staggered enemies to take more damage. Some other abilities also increase Stagger damage like Aerith’s Ray of Judgement. A few Synergy Abilities even extend the Stagger Duration, such as Relentless Rush and Avalanche Two-Step, allowing you more time to maximise damage.
Once full, the Stagger Gauge slowly goes down, and when it is empty again, the enemy will get up and re-engage in combat.
That was everything you need to know to pressure and stagger enemies effectively in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
