You will need A-type EXP to level up Archetypes. You automatically earn this during every battle that you win, and it is generally less than the normal EXP that you earn from every battle. Hence, Archetypes level up slower than your main protagonist and can take a bit of time.
Here are the ways that you can use to level up your Archetypes quickly in Metaphor ReFantazio:

1) Defeat Elementa Enemies
Elementa enemies are a rare breed that do not respawn once you kill them. However, they drop a significant amount of EXP to level up your Archetypes in Metaphor ReFantazio. Note that these enemies will flee after one turn unless you manage to stun them somehow.
2) Using Hero’s Leaf of Light
There are many Hero items that you can get and use in Metaphor ReFantazio. Of these, the Hero’s Leaf of Light can give 1,000 EXP to any archetype of your choosing, and these can also be farmed fairly easily.
