Purple Cloud Mountain is the secret area in Chapter 4 of Black Myth: Wukong. Similar to the other secret areas in the game, completing this area will reward you with a key item or Vessel. This vessel will make your fight against Hundred-Eyed Daoist, the Chapter 4 final boss, much easier.

Reaching the Purple Cloud Mountain requires the completion of two boss fights against the same enemy. In this article, we will explain how you can reach the Purple Cloud Mountain in Black Myth: Wukong easily.

Steps to unlock and reach Purple Cloud Mountain in Black Myth: Wukong

To unlock and reach Purple Cloud Mountain in Black Myth: Wukong, you must defeat Venom Daoist twice in Chapter 4 of Black Myth: Wukong. Venom Daost is an optional boss and you will have to know exactly where to find this NPC.

Here is a step-by-step guide to reach Purple Cloud Mountain in Black Myth: Wukong after defeating Venom Daoist:

Step 1: Find and Defeat Old Cocoon

You must Fast Travel to the Pool of Shattered Jade Keeper’s Shrine in The Webbed Hollow to reach the Old Cocoon. From here, take the path directly beside the Shrine. Go past the group of cocoons hanging till you reach one solitary cocoon hanging from a branch. This cocoon will speak out to you.

Although the Old Cocoon is not a boss fight, there is a health bar below. Simply keep hitting it to deplete its health, and the Venom Daoist will emerge from it. You must now defeat the Venom Daoist to continue to unlock the Purple Cloud Mountain region in Black Myth: Wukong.

Step 2: Defeat the Venom Daoist

The Venom Daoist is an eight-handed spider-humanoid. He is a melee fighter and wields dual blades on his hands. This boss is not the most difficult fight, however, he has very high mobility. Venom Daoist is a melee fighter, and his moves mostly involve slashing at you with his swords and jumping around like a spider and slamming you.

His most deadly move is a dash-and-slash with the swords that takes away a good chunk of your health if you are hit by it. To defeat the Venom Daoist, simply use A Pluck of Many spell in combination with Immobilize and Red Tides transformation. These will melt the boss easily, without the need for managing health or mana.

After you defeat Venom Daoist, the boss will run away while promising you a rematch when he has fully mastered his powers.

Step 3: Find Venom Daoist Again

You must travel to the Court of Illumination Keeper’s Shrine at Temple of the Yellow Flowers to find Venom Daoist again. From the Shrine, head towards the exit of the temple and keep going straight. After passing the second gate, climb the set of stairs that is just in front of you. After you climb these stairs, take a right turn and keep following the road.

Take the first left that is available to you, leading further up a flight of stairs. Climb two sets of stairs here and immediately turn left and follow the trail. This will lead you down to a large arena where the Venom Daoist will be waiting for you. This boss fight is the key to unlocking and reaching Purple Cloud Mountain.

Step 4: Defeat Venom Daoist Again

Venom Daoist is a two-phased boss fight here. You will notice that his number of arms has come down from eight to four. In the first phase, the fight will be very similar to his first encounter. You should conserve as much of your Mana and Gourd usage as possible for the second phase.

In his second phase, he will get rid of the two extra arms and the fight will become much more difficult. While the core melee mechanics of Venom Daoist don’t change, the boss becomes much more agile and aggressive. He will have multiple six and seven-hit combos with his sword, and that is paired with his added mobility. Overall, this is going to be an aggressive boss. You must conserve your stamina properly since there will be a lot of dodging involved.

Step 5: Enter the Mural to Reach Purple Cloud Mountain

After you defeat the Venom Daoist, the boss will unlock a painting on the mural at the far end of this arena. Simply go and interact with this painted mural to enter it. This new region inside the mural is the secret area – Purple Cloud Mountain.

You must complete the Purple Cloud Mountain area and defeat its main boss Duskveil to get the Weaver’s Needle, a Vessel that will greatly help in the Hundred-Eyed Daoist fight in Chapter 4’s finale.

After you have reached Purple Cloud Mountain’s first Shrine in Black Myth: Wukong, you can Fast Travel to this area anytime. However, it is suggested you complete the area or at least beat the Duskveil first before fighting the Hundred-Eyed Daoist.
