We have a quick guide ready for you on how to recruit new party members in the new Dragon Quest 3 Remake. Follow along.

The game lets you recruit your first party as part of the main story when you visit Patty in Aliahan. The Party Planning Place allows you to recruit new team members as well, but that is a different process altogether.

At the time of writing, we haven’t found any other place that lets you recruit new party members. So, you’ll want to head upstairs from the Party Place to find a desk solely dedicated to new recruits.

Interact with the Premiere Adventure Listing Services (PALS) to begin your journey of finding (or creating) a new friend. The receptionist will ask if you want to add a new member to your roster, and you must answer yes. The following steps will ensure:

1. Choose a Name

Name your new recruit whatever you like. The name will not affect how they will play so feel free to be as goofy or serious with it as you want.

2. Pick a Vacation

Picking a vacation is the next step. You get to choose between various classes like a Warrior, Martial Artist, Mage, Priest, Merchant, Gadabout, Thief, and a Monster Wrangler. Don’t let this choice slip past you because it will determine the play style of the new party member.

3. Choose the Appearance

Select between Appearance A (male) and Appearance B (female). This choice is not purely cosmetic, as gender may influence certain personality traits and stats.

4. Decide on Seed Allowance

The game will ask if you want to distribute the seeds yourself or let the game do it randomly. The six seed types are Strength, Agility, Defense, Stamina, Wisdom, and Luck.

5. Select a Voice

You have to choose a voice for your new character, and the game will assign them a personality. Finally, the game will ask if you want to add this character to your party immediately. If your party is already full, you’ll need to move one member to the inactive characters list. Choosing “No” will automatically place the new character on the inactive list. Don’t worry—you can always adjust your party later.

Dragon Quest 3 Remake allows you to change your party if you want to experiment with different playstyles or simply switch things up for aesthetic reasons. Here’s how:

Visit Patty at the front desk in the Party Place (downstairs). Talk to Patty, and several options will appear. Select “Pick Up” to choose a member from the inactive characters list to add to your active party.

If your party is full, you’ll need to select “Drop Off” to leave a character behind. The “View Roster” option allows you to see which members won’t join you on your adventures.
