Orin holds a member of the party hostage deep underground in the Temple of Bhaal in the Undercity of Baldur’s Gate 3.
“Rescue Orin’s Victim” is a questline in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3 that requires you to enter the Temple of Bhaal. Orin the Red is a Bhaal who abducts a party member in order to get them to do her bidding and kill Gortash. The victim can be any member of the party. It varies depending on your interactions and progression with your companions.
To rescue Orin’s victim, you must navigate the city’s underground and make your way to the Temple of Bhaal to confront her.
How to Get to the Temple Of Bhaal
Going Underground
You must first spawn at the Basilisk Gate Waypoint. From here, go down the alley on the left to find a manhole. Descend down the ladder into the Lower City Sewers and break the wall on the left.
In the hall ahead, jump through the gap on the right and over the sewage to reach a double door. Follow the path past the door till you’re stopped by the Death’s Head of the Bhaal Blythe. Defeat her and continue down the path, through the double door at the end.
Follow the path straight ahead till you reach the City Sewers Waypoint. Head straight from here and take the last left. Go past the Greaseball enemies and head west. Take the first right and go through the gate to find the Undercity Ruins and the Undercity Waypoint.
Next to the waypoint is the door that leads to the Temple of Bhaal. Present the Amulet of Bhaal and prove your faith by talking about the murder of the tribunal. The door will then let you in. You are halfway to Orin’s victim at this point.
Bhaal Worshippers Ambush
Past the door lies an ambush on the path to the Temple of Bhaal. You will have Bhaal worshippers, alongside the Farslayer of Bhaal, Ghislev, attack the party. Ghislev has a five-round Power Word Kill chant that will kill the entire party if completed. Killing Ghislev also kills the remaining ambushers. Then, Ghiselv must take priority. Closing in and going for the kill is key here, and Misty Step proves to be the most useful in this task.
Survive the ambush and follow the path straight ahead past several statues and torches to reach the Temple of Bhaal. Interact with Sceleritas Fel, and he will lead you to the temple.
Rescue Orin’s Victim
In the main hall of the temple, Orin lies in wait. The encounter can play out in two ways. If Gortash is alive, Orin can be convinced into letting the victim go free using Deception. However, if he is dead, she will turn into a Slayer, and a boss battle will ensue.
The Slayer is powered by Unstoppable 7, enchanted and recharged by the worshippers around her. Use AoE spells to damage the worshippers and make the fight easier. Orin can also be targeted with Magic Missile Level 5, which breaks her guard and leaves her vulnerable.
Defeat Orin and her goons to rescue the victim.
