The Forest, a survival crafting horror game by Endnight Games, is a home for mysterious mutants and cannibals. Surviving in the dangerous woods is not a piece of cake. Gather various resources and build your base into a safer place that you can rely on to escape from the horrors of the forest. Throughout the game, you must explore dangerous locations such as cannibal villages and haunting caves.

There are more chances you may lose your progress while encountering deadly enemies unless you save your progression beforehand. Saving the game makes your progression count and prepares you for future challenges and threats. Unlike most games, The Forest doesn’t allow you to save anytime, anywhere. Instead, you need to find and interact with specific save points to record your progress.

Structures such as shelters and cabins found at random spots in the map offer a save point, which allows you to save the game. However, you can’t always rely on random spots throughout your journey. So you can create your own save points at your preferred locations, and here is how.

There are four basic structures that give access to the save feature. Here is the complete list of all the structures and buildings you can use to save your game:

  • Temporary Shelter
  • Hunting Shelter
  • Log Cabin
  • Small Cabin
  • Tree House
  • Alpine Tree House
  • Bed
  • Orange Tents
  • Blue Tents
  • Yacht

While some of these structures can’t be built (Tents and Yachts), others can be crafted with resources such as leaves, sticks, and logs. Open your Survival Book and navigate to the Shelters section to access these buildable structures. Place the ghost layout in your preferred spot, then complete the structure by adding the required materials to it.

Once completed, approach the structure and interact with it to get the save option. This brings up five save slots—choose your desired slot to save your game. Note that while structures like Temporary Shelter allow you to save your game, they collapse after being used for rest.
