Silent Hill 2 Remake features some really fascinating puzzles that not only require ingenuity but also some critical thinking from its players. The Brookhaven Padlock Puzzle is one such puzzle that asks players to pay close attention to their environment. Unlike the original Silent Hill 2, the remake adds an element of uncertainty to the puzzles via the randomly generated codes. All codes for locks and safes in the game are randomly generated. As such, you cannot reuse the same code from other players or your own previous playthrough of the remake. The Brookhaven Padlock puzzle requires a code, which can be discerned via the old pictures across the Hospital’s Lobby area.
However, finding the right combination of numbers isn’t nearly as straightforward as simply interacting with all the pictures within the area. Where to find the Brookhaven Hospital Padlock in Silent Hill 2 Remake
The Padlock Puzzle in Brookhaven Hospital is fairly close to the entrance. Heading inside the Hospital, past the Security Room, you will reach the Reception. Past the Reception, there’s a storehouse that has a save point on one of the tables. Close to the save point, you will find the Padlock safe on the wall. Unlike previous safes in Silent Hill 2 Remake, there’s no note nearby that explains how to unlock it. Instead, once you interact with the Padlock, Maria will mention that the clue to the safe might be somewhere around the area. This is your hint to explore the Lobby thoroughly to obtain the code for the Padlock safe in Brookhaven Hospital.
How to unlock the Brookhaven Hospital Padlock in Silent Hill 2 Remake
Thankfully, you won’t have to go too far in search of the code. You essentially need to head to the small alleyway adjacent to the Lobby and the Examination Room. From there, you need to take a left, and you will eventually find the combination required for the Padlock safe. Here are the steps to obtain the code for the Brookhaven Hospital Padlock Puzzle:
- Go past the Security Room, head to the alleyway to the right, adjacent to the Lobby.
- From the alleyway, take a left at the end and make your way past Exam Room 2.
- You will find a locked door at the end.
- You can enter the door with the locked door by breaking the adjacent window.
- Inside the Exam Room, you will find a healing syringe, and further inside, you will find a note with the Padlock combination.
The code for the Padlock corresponds to the number of Nurses, Doctors, and Trees, in three pictures across the Lobby. The arrangement of the three elements will be different for each playthrough. For instance, during our first playthrough, the combination was – Nurses > Trees > Doctors. While the combination of the three entities might be different for you, the location of the paper with the code will be the same. After you get the combination, simply explore the Lobby to find the three pictures. The pictures can be found close to the Reception area and are hard to miss.
Once you find the pictures and note down the number of Nurses, Doctors, and Trees in them, simply input the code in the Padlock to unlock it. The Padlock contains the Basement Key, which is required to progress through the main story of Silent Hill 2 Remake.
