STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has garnered a name for itself thanks to its hazardous environment that is defined by uncertainty. One of, if not the most deadly, phenomena you can encounter in the Zone are Emissions. Emissions are powerful bursts of radiation that can and will obliterate anything that is caught in their path. This means that it is essential for you to know how to survive them.

In this article, we will break down the steps you can take to make sure you make it out of Emissions alive in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

How To Survive Emissions by Taking Shelter in Stalker 2

Your first encounter with an Emission is during the “A Race Against Death” objective in the “Behind Seven Seals” main mission in STALKER 2. After this mission is done, Emissions become recurring events in your journey. They manifest as terrifying storms that release bursts of excessive energy onto the Stalker 2 map. When an Emission occurs, you seek immediate shelter, or you will die due to the excess radiation.

When you are either resting in a settlement or exploring the vast world of Stalker 2, you will receive an emergency transmission from Strider. This acts as the alert that notifies everyone that an Emission is imminent.

After the transmission ends, you will only have a few minutes before the sky turns red. Accompanying the red skies, the storm will also strike the Zone. When this happens, you need to stop whatever you are doing and make your way to the nearest shelter to survive the Emission. If you are unable to do so, the radioactive energy released by the Emission will quickly deplete your HP, resulting in your character’s death and loss of any unsaved progress.

Where Are Emission Shelters?

Stalker 2 features various dedicated Emission shelters that are spread across the map. They can largely be found in named settlement bases like Zalissya. They are marked with a main mission icon when an Emission is right around the corner. Since you have limited stamina in the game, there will be times where you don’t make it back to the major settlement in time.

If you are unable to reach an Emission shelter, you can also try seeking shelter in any building, house, base, or cave that has solid walls. You will know when you are safe within a structure when your “Get to a shelter” objective is marked as complete. All you have to do is stay within a shelter for 2-3 minutes until the Emission comes to an end and Strider announces its conclusion.
