Dragon Ball Sparking Zero boasts a massive roster featuring over 180 characters. Each character has their own unique combos and specials, incentivizing you to try them all. What the game sometimes does not make clear is how to unlock a character. Goku Black is one character on the roster that cannot be unlocked in any specific way. An alternate version of Zamasu and a former Supreme Kai in Universe 10, Goku Black is the nefarious main antagonist of the Future Trunks arc and has captured the adoration of Dragon Ball fans worldwide.
In this guide, we shall go over how to unlock Goku Black in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero and the conditions you need to meet to do so.
How to Unlock Goku Black
There are two ways for you to unlock Goku Black in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. You can either buy him or collect seven Dragon Balls to summon Super Shenron and wish for Goku Black.
Buy Goku Black from the Shop
You can buy Goku Black from the in-game shop in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. This is the simplest way to unlock the wicked antagonist. Goku Black is available on the store once you reach Player Level 20 and can be bought for 75,000 Zeni.
Summon Super Shenron
You can also unlock Goku Black by summoning Super Shenron and wishing for him. Owning the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero immediately grants you access to a free wish from Super Shenron that you can use to unlock Goku Black.
However, if you do not own that edition of the game, you will have to collect seven Super Dragon Balls to summon Super Shenron. Playing through Goku’s sage in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero grants you Super Dragon Balls. The same is the case for a few of the Trunks episodes in the story mode. The Tournament of Power mode is also a good way to obtain the dragon balls but is inconsistent with the drops.
Once you have the required seven Super Dragon Balls, go to the Come Forth section in the main menu. Click on the second option, “Summon Super Shenron,” to summon the mythical wish-granting dragon. Wish for Goku Black to unlock the character and play.
