Bolts, an essential tool in STALKER 2, are used to detect anomalies or disable them to increase your chances of survival in the Zone.
STALKER 2, the sequel of the GSC Game World’s hit game franchise, takes place in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. The highly radioactive Zone gives birth to various threats, such as mutants and anomalies. Apart from the visible enemies such as humans and mutants, the zone requires you to find your way through several invisible anomalous fields.
You will often come into contact with these anomalous fields or anomalies in STALKER 2. If you are not aware of how to counter and detect these anomalies, then you should get familiar with the in-game tools Bolts. This guide provides complete details on Bolts and how to use them effectively to survive the anomalies.

What Are Bolts in STALKER 2?
The Ardent STALKER franchise fans would already be professionals in handling the Bolts. But if you are a new stalker entering the Zone, getting familiar with these little metal pieces will help you to survive in this radiative region effectively.
Bolts are thrown like hand grenades in an anomalous field to detect the location of the anomaly, which may sometimes temporarily disable it, allowing you to pass through. You will get introduced to Bolts and anomalies by fellow stalker Richter during ‘A Tough Awakening’ mission. Don’t worry about the limit, as you can use these Bolts infinitely.

How Do Bolts Work in STALKER 2?
Throwing a Bolt at a suspected anomalous field allows you to detect the exact location of an anomaly. Bolts temporarily disable several anomalies, such as electrical anomalies, acid puddles, and vortexes.
Equip Bolts by opening the Radial menu. It will be equipped in your right hand, which means you cannot use your weapon in that state. You can choose to throw Bolts overhand or underhand and can also adjust the throwing distance.
When you come in contact with a nearby anomalous field, your detector will start beeping. This helps you to identify anomalies in the Zone as some of them can’t be seen by the naked eye. When a Bolt is thrown at an anomalous field, it reacts with the anomaly and makes it disappear only for a while. Use that gap to successfully pass through the anomalies. If you suspect the presence of anomalies blocking your way, throw as many Bolts as you want to clear your path. Sometimes you may get a chance to grab artifacts near the anomalies.
Additionally, Bolts can also be used as an auditory distraction tool. Throw a Bolt to distract an enemy or mutant (during stealth mode) to get past them to launch a surprise attack.
