Learn how to upgrade gear in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy to face tougher enemies and enhance your team’s power.

Your teammates will provide constant support to you during battles in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. As such, you’ll need to constantly upgrade their gear in your Free Time back at the academy. As the game progresses, enemies will become tougher, and the starting gear of your team members will no longer cut it.
In this guide, we explain how you can upgrade gear in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. We’ll also take a look at the materials you need to go through with these upgrades.
How To Upgrade Gear in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy

You can upgrade skills, abilities, and Weapon Class using a small terminal inside the Training Room of the game. You can freely use this machine to improve the ability of teammates, as it does not consume your Free Time slot. So, take your time and choose the skills you want to upgrade from this menu.
However, keep in mind that you can upgrade the skills for those teammates that you have already persuaded to join you in battle. For others, you’ll first need to unlock them as a teammate in battle before you can begin upgrading their abilities or gear.
Generally, upgrading gear and skills for your team members results in an improvement in their Attack power or their range of attacks. After you make certain amount of progress in the main story, you’ll unlock the Garage at the academy. In the Garage, you can also assign new skills to your team members. These skills can be both defensive and offensive in nature.

What Do You Need To Upgrade Gear in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy?

You’ll need the following items whenever you want to upgrade gear or skills for your teammates.
- Resources: Throughout your expeditions, you’ll come across various resources, such as rocks, plants, textiles, and metals. These are necessary to craft all of the gear and skill upgrades in the game. Fortunately, every character is good at finding the resources that they specifically need for their upgrades, which makes collecting these items easier.
- Grades: Takumi will need to fulfil certain grade requirements in the five subjects in his Report Card for particular upgrades to become available. Spending time with teammates during Free Time and giving them gifts they love are great ways to improve your grades. Reading books at the Library when it unlocks can also help build Takumi’s grades quickly.
- Battle Points: Battle Points, or BP, is the currency in the game. You can earn a load of them by simply fighting enemies and exploring during expeditions. You’ll need plenty of BP to craft gear upgrades, so make sure you collect as much of it as possible.
After upgrading gear or skills, you can use the VR Machine inside the Training Room to test out the new moves. These simulations can help you get better before facing a real threat on the battlefield.
