Intel Core Ultra 7 15th Gen CPU Received Huge Price Drop on Newegg

Intel has signficantly discounted the Intel Core Ultra 7 15th Gen CPUs officially, which should help boost its sales.

The latest 15th Gen Intel Core Ultra series processors launched in October 2024, but they didn’t sell very well because they failed to deliver a decent performance boost over the 14th Gen CPUs and their competitor, AMD Ryzen. That’s because the main selling point of the new 15th Gen processors was that they consumed less power than their 14th Gen counterparts.

Due to bad sales, Intel has recently heavily discounted the Intel Core Ultra 7 CPUs, which finally makes them a worthwhile alternative to the 14th Gen Intel processors. In this article, we will explain whether the new discounted pricing makes the 15th-gen CPUs worth buying.

Intel Officially Discounted the Intel Core Ultra 7 15th Gen CPU

There are two models in the 15th Gen Intel Core Ultra 7 series: 265K and 265KF. The difference between them is that the Core Ultra 7 265KF model lacks integrated graphics, so it is a bit cheaper than the other model. The official new price of the Core Ultra 7 265KF would start at $284, and the 265K begins at $299. Both models are now $100 less than their old pricing.

Unfortunately, retailers have increased the pricing slightly, so they are currently available at $309.99 and $311.78, respectively. However, that’s still a significant price drop that should make the two processors more attractive. You can learn more about these two processors below:

Performance and Pricing

The performance of the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K is better than Intel’s older 14th Gen Core i7 14700K in both productivity and gaming. In fact, games run with better 1% and 0.1% FPS numbers on the new Core Ultra 7 processor, which leads to a smoother and better gaming experience. When compared to Ryzen 7 9700X, the Core Ultra 7 265K is massively faster in productivity applications but around 3 – 5% slower in gaming on average.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 265K and 265KF are currently available for $309.99 and $311.78 respectively. On the other hand, the Intel Core i7 14700K starts at $329.97, and the Ryzen 7 9700X starts at $309.

Integrated GPU

The Intel Core Ultra 7 265K has an integrated GPU based on the Xe-LP architecture, so it doesn’t require a dedicated GPU to boot. On the other hand, the 265KF variant doesn’t include an integrated graphics chip, so you will need to use it with a dedicated graphics card, or else it won’t boot.

Should You Buy the Intel Core Ultra 7 15th Gen CPU?

If you are buying a new processor and motherboard, the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K and 265KF are the better options compared to their main competitors, Intel Core i7 14700K and AMD Ryzen 7 9700X. It is cheaper than older 14th Gen processors and also delivers slightly higher performance. Besides, the 15th Gen processors are based on the new LGA1851 platform, which may get higher support than the older platform.

The Intel Core Ultra 7 265K and 265KF are also significantly better than the Ryzen 7 9700X in productivity due to higher core count, but they currently cost the same.
