Players have to lay low, understand the enemy’s movement, look for keys, and then make a move, but quietly. Moreover, the game has a notoriety system that makes the public assassinations way harder. If players assassinate someone publicly or do some other illegal activity, the meter goes up, which later causes problems when roaming around the city.
2. Great Location
The Assassin’s Creed franchise is known for bringing historical real-life locations to the game. AC Mirage is set in Baghdad, Iraq, during the 9th century, which is also known as the Islamic Golden Age. The city is beautiful and very well designed, with a lot of people running their chores in the market. There is another important landmark in the game, “Alamut Castle,” where the first Assassin’s Creed game began.
The game also has many references related to Mesopotamia too. Baghdad comes in the area that is between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, which is called Mesopotamia. In fact, the main character, Basim, has an eagle companion named Enkidu, who is Gilgamesh’s best friend. It is said that Gilgamesh used to rule over the city of Uruk, southeast of Baghdad. The game acknowledges the history of the region by implementing its references throughout the city.
3. New Mechanics
Assassin’s Creed Mirage introduced some new mechanics, such as the detection mine, which attracts the guards and expels smoke, making the guards hit the floor. The missions used to be easy when the player’s eagle companion used to mark all the enemies, making their life easier. But AC Mirage has introduced marksmen who shoot the eagle, which makes the game more challenging. However, the coolest mechanic this game has is Assassin Focus, which lets players mark and eliminate multiple enemies at once.

1. Janky Animations
Assassin’s Creed is famous for its freestyle parkour, but they are also famous for their janky movements. While players can enjoy running around the beautiful Baghdad, many have encountered glitches like jumping somewhere else or stopping just before climbing. The developers said that they made the animations faster, but Basim runs very slowly. But when it comes to climbing walls, he almost snaps, which makes the movement janky.
2. More Bugs
Even though the movement is stiff, the amount of bugs gets its own heading. Ubisoft got slandered for making their flagship game so buggy. One of the famous bugs is where the game becomes isometric; however, many players loved this experience and said that they would love this bug as a feature. Sometimes the eavesdrop prompt does not appear, which halts the progress of the mission. The HUD is filled with many things like skill points and quest objectives, which makes the game very cluttered.
3. Static Combat
Assassin’s Creed used to have such cool and immersive combat, but with AC Mirage, the combat is made simple. “It’s just parry and dodge.” The developers focused so much on stealth that they forgot to put some effort into the combat. Its predecessors had such complex mechanics when fighting, but all AC Mirage mainly has is sword fights with little to no animations or movements. Even though the game offers some gadgets, they don’t cover up the stamina mechanic, which creates problems during the combat.
Final Verdict: Should You Play Assassin’s Creed Mirage in 2025?
If you are a fan of a good story filled with great stealth segments, you should play this game. The setting of the game is beautiful and feels very lively, and the favor token mechanic also makes the NPCs look alive. Ubisoft is working on the game to fix the bugs, which is a good sign.
The movement and combat are kind of lackluster, but that does not hide the fact that it has one of the best stealth in the franchise. Assassin’s Creed Mirage has its sweet and sour moments, like citrus juice, but it’s definitely worth playing in 2025.
