While the game is generally free, you can purchase bundles like these that reward you with cosmetics such as costumes, MVP animations, emotes, nameplates, and sprays. Additionally, you can also earn other currencies in the game, like Units and Lattice. These rewards can be claimed by exchanging them with Chrono Tokens.

The base version of the battle pass is free for everyone. However, the rewards are very limited. Most of the premium rewards, like costumes and accessories, are locked behind the Luxury Battle Pass, which costs 990 Lattice or $9.99.

If you want to go all out with your purchase, you can buy the more expensive Luxury Battle Pass for 2,100 Lattice or $19.99. This version adds an extra 2,800 Chrono Tokens and an additional 20% acquisition bonus when you get tokens from other sources. Take note that this bonus is only active for the current season.

It’s actually more expensive than Season 0, which only cost 490 Lattice or $4.99. However, the Season 1 battle pass is much bigger and offers even more rewards. This explains why it’s much more expensive. This will probably be the staple price for the succeeding seasonal passes.

What’s included in the Marvel Rivals Season 1 Darkhold Battle Pass

The Season 1 Darkhold Battle Pass contains 10 unlockable exclusive character skins in Marvel Rivals. Two of the available costumes, for Peni Parker and Scarlet Witch, can be unlocked without purchasing the Luxury version. However, you need to purchase the battle pass if you wish to unlock the rest of the costumes. Each of the costumes costs 400 Chrono Tokens to unlock, except the All-Butcher Loki, which is an immediate reward upon purchasing the Luxury Battle Pass.

There are a total of 11 pages worth of rewards in the seasonal pass. Each page also contains a plethora of cosmetics you can unlock using Chrono Tokens. Each page features one of the 10 skins on top of other items.

As for the currencies, you can get back around 600 Lattice that you used to purchase the battle pass. Additionally, you can also claim around 600 Units. This means it only costs you around 390 Lattice to purchase the seasonal pass. That’s around $3.96 worth of Lattice.

Is the Grind Worth The Rewards?

A key question for any battle pass is whether the rewards feel achievable without excessive effort. Early impressions suggest that Marvel Rivals offers a balanced progression system, with regular play yielding consistent progress. This means there is enough time to grind Chrono Tokens.

However, if you only play the game occasionally, you might question whether you’ll be able to unlock all the rewards before the season ends. Fortunately, the game does not remove purchased battle passes. This means you can keep grinding until you unlock all the rewards, even if the season is over. You can access all purchased battle passes from the Reality Link Point option.

For players who are still undecided, you can continue to grind for Chrono Tokens without purchasing the Marvel Rivals Season 1 Darkhold Battle Pass. Once you unlock all the pages, that’s the time you can decide if you really want all the rewards or not. Until then, you can play the game as usual. However, keep in mind that if you do not purchase the Luxury Battle Pass for Season 1, you will lose access to it once it expires.

If you’re a collector looking to get the best value for your money, the Marvel Rivals Season 1 Darkhold Battle Pass is definitely worth it. The eight unlockable skins alone, on top of the two you can get for free, make this seasonal pass a worthy investment. Additionally, the partial currency refund is another key reason it’s a great buy. You can use the Lattice earned to offset the cost of purchasing the next season’s pass. Even if you are a casual player, you won’t miss out on the rewards. You can keep grinding even after the season ends as long as you bought it.

However, if you’re on the fence or primarily concerned with gameplay impact rather than aesthetics, you may want to weigh the cost against your level of engagement with the game. The items you get in the battle pass don’t really affect gameplay. This means there is no gameplay advantage if you purchase it.
