Whether No Man’s Sky is worth your time in 2025 or not is a noteworthy discussion because the game has gotten way better since its launch back in 2016. Initially, No Man’s Sky couldn’t live up to its potential. Unfortunately, some issues persist to this day. However, this game can still be one of the best experiences depending on the expectations you carry. To ensure that you make an informed decision, this article will present a few arguments so you can decide whether it’s finally worth your time and energy.

Is No Man’s Sky Still Worth Your Time?

Multiplayer Aspect

The game is majorly a single-player experience, given it is focused on exploration. However, those who wish for it can play this game in co-op. Luckily, this game has no PvP mode; meaning, there’s no competition, just hours and hours of fun and laughter with your friends or random players online. If you are someone who enjoys chaos, you may not find it exhilarating to play with random players because it is more of a zen game that lacks “excitement”. If you decide to play it, though, there is still a decent amount of people playing this game on Steam every day! At the time of writing, the player count peaked on Steam at 32,271 players in the last 24 hours.

Graphics and Artstyle

The game has a modern cartoonish artstyle while the graphics are pretty polished. These are the two things that make it stand out among other sci-fi space games. If you are somebody who prefers visually appealing games, you will not hate No Man’s Sky. In fact, you might even like it for its appearance. The only catch is that you shouldn’t jump in the game expecting a realistic look at the Universe, planets, and some nebulas at a distance.

Soothing Gameplay

As we mentioned earlier, the game isn’t chaotic. The entire loop is about exploring, gathering resources, building, and repeating it all over again. There are bits of combat now and then in the game, but it’s far from interesting. You will get bored with the combat and the ship fights that were originally meant to be exciting but work as fillers in an exploration game. The game is a survival, not in the true aspect, but for gathering, exploring, and staying alive in the vast cosmos.

The entire Universe is procedurally generated as you move. No Man’s Sky is so vast that it has over 250 “star systems” with each one having its own planets. All the planets are also pretty big and you could hardly ever run out of areas to explore until you have reached at least the first 50 hours of the game. Although there are NPCs in the game, there is no story narrative that matters.

Overall, I would say the game is worth it if you wish to play zen exploration game with your friends or alone as well. Those who focus on exploration and don’t care much about a realistic artstyle and graphics will have a good time playing No Man’s Sky in 2025.
