Scare off pesky invaders threatening your school with this guide. Here’s a few tips and tricks for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy has received rave reviews from fans and critics. The anime-inspired RPG is the vision of Japanese video game auteur Kazutaka Kodaka. Kodaka has previously crafted games like Dangonronpa, Clock Tower 3, and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3. There’s plenty to discover in the game as it features a wide range of characters and over 100 endings.
As a newbie to the tactical turn-based RPG genre, you might have many questions about how the game works. We’ve got you covered, as in this guide we will be covering a few important tips and tricks that new players should know. If you want to start The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy with an edge, you’ve come to the right place.
Look Around As Much as You Can During Expeditions
You’ll need to go on expeditions beyond the Undying Flames in search of materials, resources, extra Battle points, and other things. These expeditions require you to take a few teammates to hunt specific materials or items for the Gift-o-Matic. Every teammate has their unique expedition perk, enabling you to find certain materials easier than others.
When you’re out on regular expeditions, most of them will allow three other teammates with you, which ends when Takumi’s HP is empty. Persuasion expeditions end when you find the items required for the Gift-o-Matic. The expedition map is divided into zones, with each zone housing more of one type of resource than others. You may want a rough idea of where you’re going since time and HP are limited. Make sure to check the map overview to ensure you’re on track.
Don’t Be Fearful of Letting Teammates Die in Battle

While you do want to ensure your teammates take as little damage as possible, you can sacrifice near-death teammates for last-resort attacks. Last-resort moves vary for every teammate, but they do more damage than a normal attack. Last resort moves also have a wider range than a signature move. The only loss is that the teammate will succumb to their wounds.
You need not worry as teammates can be revived in subsequent waves. So if a teammate is about to be snuffed out, don’t let the invaders get a boost by killing them. Do the deed yourself to land colossal damage and later revive them in the upcoming waves. As a mad titan once said, “The hardest choices require the strongest wills.”
Always Upgrade Your Weapons As Soon as Possible

When you get access to the training room, you’ll be able to upgrade your teammates’ weapons. This will improve the stats for a teammate’s default abilities and you can also teach your teammates new skills. This can also improve offensive abilities and armor capabilities of defensive abilities. When you unlock the Garage on day 19, you’ll be able to teach teammates new abilities.
Every teammate has some abilities that they can learn if you have the BP, good grades, and materials to craft them. These abilities will be available when the teammate is in combat. We recommend checking often and upgrading what you can. Doing upgrades doesn’t consume Free time so you have another reason.
Takumi Can Reset Battles

Since The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is a tactical RPG, you’ll face tough battles sometimes. Your strategy can sometimes be not so fruitful. If you feel like you’re going to lose, you can always restart a fight. Takumi’s special skill allows you to restart any fight you want at any moment.
Retrying a wave is a good idea if you’ve made a few mistakes, or you can retry a fight from the start. It’s easy to be offensive all the time, but you’re the “Defense Academy.” So, if your school’s shield is too low, you can restart the battle as Takumi’s special power allows you to do it.
Fatigue Limits Your Movement, Not Your Attack
Unless you’re using attack point (AP) on a teammate who doesn’t experience fatigue, any move that requires AP will cause fatigue. Fatigue dramatically reduces physical movement after a turn in the game. Support from a teammate or using Voltage to move again with a second turn to reassert control can combat fatigue.
This strategy is helpful when a teammate is surrounded even after several moves. You can use an attack that clears out the surrounding enemies by using AP if you have any. They’ll be able to deal considerable damage to save themselves just in a quite restricted range. You can also end your turn without using AP as unused points roll over to the subsequent turns.
