Marvel Rivals players have had a few complaints since the game’s release and the developers have addressed most of them. One of the reasons why the player base continues to grow and stick to the game is that the developers actually listen to the feedback. The game is fun but is far from perfect and we accept the flaws that come with it! However, there are a few things that NetEase Games should pay attention to before it’s too late.

Complaints That Marvel Rivals Should Rectify

Note that we won’t be covering all the complaints that the playerbase has through this list. Instead, the list is subject to the writer’s opinions. So, we will try to include the most common complaints, which should be addressed as soon as possible to enhance the Marvel Rivals experience for all the players. These go as follows, not ranked in any way:

  • More Support Characters
  • Overtime & MVP
  • Spawn Location
  • Ultimate Ability Farming
  • Abandoning Competitive Games

If you wish to know the explanation behind each of these points, you can continue scrolling below and find out why we have mentioned these complaints here.

1. More Support Characters

The Marvel Rivals roster is divided into three classes: Vanguards, Duelists, and Strategists. Since it is a highly competitive team-based game, technically, all characters are “support” characters. However, for now, we are going to assign this term to only Vanguards and Strategists because they are contributing to the DPS output of the team while also serving their expected roles of tanking damage and healing teammates, respectively.

While your team can still win without necessarily having a balanced comp, the major reason behind people insta-locking Duelists is that they are fun to play! Nothing can change the thrill you get after seeing that KO Prompt on your screen.

However, if we had more support characters (tanks and healers) to choose from, this would probably be different. Season 1 gave us a Strategist and Vanguard: Invisible Woman and The Thing. But I believe we still need more of them to ensure people don’t insta-lock Duelists to throw away a ranked game.

2. Overtime & MVP

Overtime & MVP are two features in any Marvel Rivals match that are a bit unpredictable. The primary reason for putting them on the list is that NetEase Games is not too transparent with how these features work. There are some ways you can try and guess the nature of these features but it’s not always going to be a linear curve. Let me explain.

Overtime always triggers when the game has run out of “time” in a Convergence/Convoy match, or the enemy is taking control when you are about to win a Domination match. It also triggers when your payload is close to crossing an objective, but you have run out of time and your team is within its vicinity, i.e. spawning the payload or reaching a checkpoint.

The Overtime slows down or speeds up depending on whether the enemies contesting the overtime are present on the objective or not. In certain cases, you don’t get Overtime at all, or the enemy can get it for way longer than they are supposed to. It can also happen the other way around.

However, in a recent match, I observed that the enemy’s one minute on the payload had run out, they used Overtime to get to the next checkpoint but kept moving ahead of the checkpoint for several minutes.

As for MVP, we have all experienced matches where we felt like somebody else deserved the recognition on the team, but it was allotted to someone else. You can even check the stats of the people who may be doing better overall than the MVP on the team. I think the devs should either “fix” these issues or be more transparent with them.

3. Spawn Location

Domination maps are pretty neutral in deciding their spawn points. Each spawn, whether it’s for the enemy, or your own team, is at an equal distance from the objective. However, it’s the Convergence and Convoy maps that can cause some real trouble. While the developers place the spawns at a great distance to promote a fair chance for both parties, it can feel unfair at times.

When you die right after hitting a checkpoint, you will spawn nearby. However, when you die when you are close to another checkpoint, you will have to travel all the way back there, and chances are, the defense team has already utilized the tactical advantage to its fullest. So, if developers could reduce the distance as the payload moves, or give us some more shortcuts, it would make the job much easier for both teams.

4. Ultimate Ability Farming

Imagine this. You are a Vanguard, working hard with your team to pass this Overtime. Everybody is fighting on point. All is well until you hear “Us against the world”, “The moon haunts you”, and “Legendary” for the fourth time in a short time. It is a pretty annoying sight to behold. Duelists farm their Ultimate Abilities by dealing damage while Strategists do so by healing their allies. As for Vanguards, things are a bit unfair.

I am a Venom main and even when I am being a bullet sponge for my team and causing a nuisance on the battlefield, my Ultimate doesn’t farm nearly as fast as the Duelists and Strategists. The argument also includes the allied Duelists and Strategists as well. Since everybody is farming Ultimates faster than anything, so should Vanguards. The complaint is to make it all equal for everyone.

5. Abandoning Competitive Games

Everybody knows that the stakes are higher in the Competitive mode in Marvel Rivals. Not a lot of people get angry after losing a few Quick Play matches. Competitive, on the other hand, requires a lot of focus, especially in the higher ranks.

So, if things are so serious, why are some players allowed to walk away without abandoning a match? If somebody disconnects in the early stages of a Comp game, you will find that the match will cease with a notification claiming that the disconnected player will get penalized.

However, if somebody disconnects in the later stages of the match, especially after the first round, the match will continue. The complaint that must be addressed is that you don’t even get a teammate often. So essentially, you are playing a 5v6.

If the enemy team has a Loki, then the game is 5v8 instead. If your team is already at a disadvantage and doesn’t vote to surrender, you waste your time and rank because a player disconnected in the middle of the match. The developers should find a way to compensate for losses that occur from being outnumbered.
