Marvel Rivals is flowing with Duelists. As of January 2025, the game’s roster has expanded and now has a total of 35 characters that you can choose from. Out of this grand roster of heroes and villains, there are 8 Vanguards, 8 Strategists, and 19 Duelists! So, out of such a vast number, which Duelist should you pick for your next match?

The main role of a Duelist is to hold a good DPS in any match. So, we will judge each Duelist from Marvel Rivals based on the following criteria:

  • Survivability – How efficiently a character can survive in dire situations
  • DPS – How much damage that character deals
  • Accessibility – How easily playable a character is

NOTE: This list is subjective and reflects the writer’s opinions.

S-Tier: Dealing Impressive Damage

  • Characters: Moon Knight, Psylocke, Hela, The Punisher, Star Lord

All the mentioned characters are pretty easy to use. However, I am not saying that they don’t need skill to play. But you can learn these characters as you go, and practice to master them. They continue to stay in the highlights because of their massive damage. However, each of them brings something unique to the table.

For example, Moon Knight is great at Crowd Control, Psylocke, Hela, and Star-Lord can 1v1 effectively, and The Punisher can use his shotgun to maul Vanguards even with the highest of HPs.

These characters also have great mobility compared to many other DPS characters on the roster. This makes them a force to be reckoned with. Not to forget that each of their Ultimate Abilities is also pretty impressive and can clear entire lobbies.

A-Tier: Great to Try Out

  • Characters: Iron Man, Iron Fist, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Spider-Man, Mister Fantastic, Winter Soldier

Most of these characters have somewhat of a learning curve to them. If you have prior experience in hero-shooting, you can figure them out on the go. However, for the majority of the fanbase, these might require some time in the practice range. That being said, this is not a “bad thing” at all. However, considering our criteria for this tier list, it is a negative point.

Iron Man is usually difficult to take down from the sky and Iron Fist can be a nuisance to deal with. Scarlet Witch is also pretty slippery as a character and so is Spider-Man. Both Mister Fantastic and Winter Soldier can deal impressive damage from mid-range. And not to forget that Hawkeye can one-shot you if he can aim right.

Despite these strengths, these characters might not be suitable in every scenario, unlike the S-Tier characters who are usually great in all team compositions.

B-Tier: Could Have Been Better

  • Characters: Wolverine, Magik, Squirrel Girl, Black Widow

All of these characters are great if you know how to handle their cons. But the thing is, there are many cons to tackle at the same time. For example, Wolverine doesn’t deal enough damage but loses his HP too quickly without effective regen. Magik only survives when she ambushes a squishy hero alone. Squirrel Girl’s learning curve is mostly a hit or miss. As for Black Widow, she can’t defend herself when somebody jumps her.

However, these characters have their pros as well. For example, a good Wolverine can trouble Vanguards easily and a good Black Widow can also stay at the back of the line and snipe at enemies without getting jumped often. That being said, we suggest that you keep these characters as your last reserves in critical matches where you are already losing.

C-Tier: Not Even Nearly as Useful

Marvel Rivals Namor

  • Characters: Namor, Black Panther, Storm

In my opinion, these are some of the most annoying characters to play. Although they can deal some damage, it’s not nearly as good as other DPS on this tier list. These heroes are so avoidable that you will rarely see somebody pick them as their “main” and do good in a match.

Namor is popular on social media for not being anybody’s favorite pick. Black Panther is jokingly called the “tickle monster” because of his DPS input. Unless you have a Vanguard or another Duelist supporting you at all times, Black Panther is not worth a lot of your time.

However, some people do manage to get good with him. This is because of his high mobility. And Storm has some of the worst mobilities among levitating/flying Duelists. She moves too slowly and also deals low damage. She can also be shot down easily if the enemy team has a good aim.
