Marvel Rivals players reportedly found a unique bot detection method that lets them determine AI-controlled enemies in their matches using the newly released hero, Invisible Woman. A lot of community discussions have emerged regarding the possibility of bots plaguing quickplay matches. These discussions have been ongoing since the early days of the game, with some players claiming that they are being matched against underperforming AI-controlled enemies. However, not everyone was convinced that this was the case until a recent Reddit post opened up new debates.

Invisible Woman Can Reportedly Block AI Bot Pathing in Marvel Rivals

The discussion about the Marvel Rivals bot lobby theory was reignited when a Reddit user shared their experience playing as Invisible Woman. According to their post, they managed to prevent enemies from moving simply by blocking their paths while remaining invisible.

In the accompanying clip, the player, using Invisible Woman’s Invisible Boundary ability, successfully stops three enemies from walking past a staircase. The alleged bots failed to find an alternate path and instead stood in place, jumping repeatedly. This behavior continued until the Invisible Boundary expired, at which point the player was finally attacked by the enemy team.

According to the comments, these bots can’t figure out that an invisible hero is blocking their path. This clip garnered a lot of attention from the community. Some believers used this clip as justification that players are sometimes playing with bots in quickplay matches.

Some also called out NetEase for “manipulative tactics,” as these bots do not use any form of tag to signify that they are AI units. It’s a common practice in multiplayer games to use tags or labels to signify bots, making it clear to players when they are facing AI-controlled opponents.

Interestingly, a few players claim that these bots are simply “bad real players” who are not yet familiar with the mechanics of the Invisible Woman. A few supported this claim, saying that they too are bad at the game.

Needless to say, this is not solid proof that Marvel Rivals sometimes pits you against bots in matches. However, it has sparked renewed debate and added fuel to the ongoing speculation, with players demanding more transparency from NetEase regarding matchmaking mechanics and the potential presence of AI-controlled opponents.
