This is a feature that is designed to make sure that player ranks accurately reflect their current skill levels, so the game remains challenging and fair for everyone.

How Does Rank Decay Work in Marvel Rivals Season 1?

The game employs competitive rank decay to ensure that players’ ranks accurately reflect their current skill level. At the start of each new season, players experience a rank drop to account for any potential skill changes over time. In Marvel Rivals Season 1, developers have set this decay at seven divisions.

When Season 1 kicks off, all players will automatically drop by seven tiers based on their final rank from the previous season. For example, if you finished Season 0 at Platinum 1, you would start Season 1 at Silver 2. This reset ensures that players need to prove their skills again, preventing stagnation at the top ranks. Given below is a full breakdown of what rank you will be assigned based on your rank in Season 0:

Grandmaster 1 and above = Platinum 2
Diamond 1 = Gold 2
Platinum 1 = Silver 2
Gold 1 = Bronze 2
Gold 2 and below = Bronze 3

Season 1 introduces a new rank called Celestial, positioned between Grandmaster and Eternity. The addition of the Celestial rank brings three more tiers to the competitive ladder. This gives players even more opportunities to showcase their abilities on the battleground.

It is important to remember that your regular player level remains unaffected by the competitive rank reset. Your progress and level stay the same. This means you won’t have to grind up to level 10 again to participate in ranked matches.

Season 1 is set to last approximately three months, nearly double the length of Season 0. This extended duration gives players ample time to climb back up the ranks and achieve their desired tier.
