How To Play Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals?
Spider-Man’s Mobility
In Marvel Rivals, Spider-Man is an extremely high-mobility character. If you have played any past mainline Spider-Man games, you can expect a similar web-slinging movement. He can easily cover great distances with his swinging and can also reach aerial characters like Iron Man or Hela if you time your web swings and jumps properly.
Spider-Man is notorious for his erratic movement, which makes him difficult to track. Moreover, his Get Over Here! ability allows him to easily reach an enemy if Spider-Man manages to grab them with this ability. As such, Spider-Man can also be an excellent flanker if you know the map well enough.
Spider-Man’s Survivability
With only 250 health, Spider-Man can be considered to be a squishy character in Marvel Rivals. As such, his survivability depends a lot on how you can utilize his extreme mobility. If more than one opponent focuses on Spider-Man, it can be very difficult to survive unless you have an escape route planned.
As a result, you should have a good idea of the health-pack locations on each map so that you can swing around them in case your Strategists are occupied.
Spider-Man Playstyle and Combos
A majority of Spider-Man’s damage comes from his combos. He can be considered to be a hybrid dive-hero, a term that you will easily recognize if you are into the hero-shooter genre. Spider-Man is primarily a melee character, although his Web-Cluster can shoot webs that attach to enemies. However, this does very little damage unless you can follow it up with combos.
Before we can get to the combos, it is important to understand that you should use the Web-Cluster on an enemy before initiating a fight. This ability attaches a Spider-Tracer to the opponent, which deals additional damage when you use your combos. As such, aim is going to be an important part of playing Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals.
Once this is done, you can use your Get Over Here! to get close to an enemy, use your Spider-Power for one or two melee attacks, and then use your Amazing Combo to further launch them in the air and finally finish them with another flurry of Spider-Power attacks. Usually, this will kill almost all characters below 350 HP if you manage to hit the combos right.
Spider-Man’s ultimate is more of a support ability that allows him to deal massive damage after using it. His ultimate, Spectacular Spin, throws Web-Clusters all around him, essentially attaching Spider-Trackers on everyone. The move itself deals a decent amount of damage, but you can follow it up with the combo to potentially win an entire team fight.
Best Team Composition With Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals
Spider-Man is a dive hero and performs the best with a full-fledged dive team. Here is the best team composition with Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals:
Role | Characters |
Vanguard | Venom, Hulk |
Duelist | Spider-Man, Star-Lord |
Strategist | Rocket Raccoon, Mantis |
Dive comps are not the easiest to navigate, but they can be very dangerous once they start rolling. Venom’s Team-Up Ability Symbiote Bond with Spider-Man further enhances his damage while also giving him some crowd-control abilities. Star-Lord is an additional duelist unit that can dive along with the others.
Strategists in this team composition are ranged characters who do not need to directly engage in the battle. Moreover, Mantis’ ability will further boost the damage output of the Vanguards and Duelists, making it extremely difficult unless your opponent has a full counter team.
Spider-Man Counters in Marvel Rivals
The best counter to Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals is Namor. This character’s Aquatic Dominion spawns monsters that automatically target enemies from afar. Essentially, they function as auto-turrets and can disrupt Spider-Man’s flow in a battle. Moreover, Spidey does not have enough ranged damage to deal with these and will have to rely on the team.
Black Widow is also a good counter to Spider-Man; however, this is more of a skill-based counter. With her sniper, she can potentially one-shot Spider-Man from any distance. However, Widow needs to track Spider-Man’s movements and make sure she does not miss for this to actually happen.
Tips and Tricks To Play Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals
Here are some tips and tricks that you should keep in mind when playing Spider-Man in Marvel Rivals:
- Aim for the squishy characters and backline players. Most often, these will be the opponent’s Strategist players.
- Make sure you are always mobile and try not to stay still in a single spot for too long.
