Squirrel Girl can wreak havoc in any Marvel Rivals match when played right. The community has a separate hater base for many characters because of how annoying they can be. What makes her such a dangerous character is that her Ability Kit was crafted so she can keep enemies at bay.

While she is not typically an “anti-diver” character like Namor, she can be pretty effective against defensive characters because of how her abilities are lined up. Unfortunately, she is of little use if you don’t know how to play her. We are here to change that.

How To Play Squirrel Girl in Marvel Rivals

Squirrel Girl’s Survivability

Squirrel Girl is one of the squishy characters in Marvel Rivals with only 275 base health. Unlike some other DPS characters, she cannot gain bonus health on any of her abilities which puts her in a dangerous position. Besides this health pool, Squirrel Girl relies on healers and health packs to survive the match.

Her double-jump allows her to escape unfavorable situations pretty quickly. She also has two CC abilities that allow her to escape an overwhelming 1v1 safely. So, I would say that Squirrel Girl has decent survivability, but nothing extraordinary.

Squirrel Girl’s Mobility

Squirrel Girl has a base mobility of 6m/s (meters per second). This is the standard movement speed of all characters on the roster. However, it’s her other abilities where she truly outshines many other DPS heroes.

Since Squirrely Girl is a versatile character, she can play anywhere from the back to the front line, or maybe flank enemies based on what team comp they are following. Unfortunately, she can’t dash, fly, or swing in and out of situations, but she has a double jump ability called Tail Bounce.

This ability is not just a double jump like that of Spider-Man or Hawkeye’s. Instead, it is much more powerful and the second jump is much higher compared to others. What makes her mobility even better is her Mammal Bond Ability letting her activate the high jump even when it’s on cooldown. This makes her a slippery target.

Squirrel Girl Playstyle and Combos

There is no other playstyle to adapt to with Squirrel Girl rather than being aggressive because of her Ability Kit. Her primary fire projectiles do no critical hit but have explosive damage at impact and only require three hits on squishy to mid-health characters. There is no noticeable damage falloff, but the projectile is affected by gravity. So, even if enemies are out of sight, you can still damage and kill them if you manage the gravity effect.

The only suggestable combo in her case is going for the Squirrel Blockade before attacking an aggressive enemy to ensure your safety. If that aggressive enemy has a bigger health pool, like Hulk or Thor, you would want to hit them for some time before engaging them to make sure you make the most out of both abilities.

Best Team Composition With Squirrel Girl in Marvel Rivals

ROLECHARACTERS
VanguardDoctor Strange/Hulk
DuelistsSpider-Man, Namor/Mister Fantastic
StrategistCloak & Dagger, Adam Warlock

We are only going for one Vanguard for this team comp to keep it aggressive. To be more aggressive, you can add Hulk, or stick to Doctor Strange to have some protection from incoming fire from your enemies.

Spider-Man will be the enemy healer assassin here. You can go for other diving Duelists as well but he is the best pick because he will activate the Team-up Ability with Squirrel Girl to give her an additional stun ability. Another DPS character other than Squirrel Girl and Spider-Man could either be Namor or Mister Fantastic to tackle incoming divers and shield the healers better.

Since Squirrel Girl will be moving around a lot, the best healers to go with her in an ideal team comp would be Cloak & Dagger, and Adam Warlock. The reason behind these picks is that both of these Strategists can heal without aiming directly at the targeted ally.

Squirrel Girl Counters in Marvel Rivals

The following characters can hard counter Squirrel Girl:

  • The Punisher
  • Spider-Man
  • Magneto
  • Hulk
  • Hawkeye
  • Black Widow
  • Loki
  • Invisible Woman

The Punisher is a mid-ranged hero but he can take down Squirrel Girl pretty fast with his Assault Rifle. If she is too close, he can also use his Shotgun to deal more damage than she can quickly. Since he is a hit-scan character, it wouldn’t affect his aim even if she moves too much. Hawkeye and Black Widow, on the other hand, can one-shot her with a critical hit or even follow up with a second shot quickly.

Spider-Man is the only diving duelist I think can deal with Squirrel Girl because she is too slippery at times, and so is Spidey. He can swing around to avoid her projectiles which would usually be too slow for him and deal decent damage upon getting close to her.

Vanguards like Hulk and Magneto have shields that allow them to deal damage along with those invincibility frames. So, they can pop their shields and continue laying waste to Squirrel Girl while she figures out how to counter their moves.

Fighting against Loki is always pretty bad because he can outnumber you quickly with his 2 extra clones. Squirrel Girl can go down pretty easily with the damage that he deals. As for Invisible Woman, she can use abilities that will slow down Squirrel Girl by a big margin and ambush her with her passive ability to go invisible.

Tips and Tricks to Play Squirrel Girl in Marvel Rivals

If you are wondering what are the best tips to play Squirrel Girl in this game, we have got you covered. Follow the following tips during your next run as her to ensure that you make the most out of her Ability Kit:

  • If you have a Spider-Man on your team, don’t use the Team Up ability shortly after your Squirrel Blockade. This is because Webbed Acorn is also the same kind of CC stun as the previous stun mentioned. Space them out a bit.
  • Your Mammal Bond doesn’t work on the Team Up ability.
  • Use your Ultimate once the enemy healing Ult has ended. Make sure most of the enemies are near your Ultimate though.
  • Try saving your Ultimate for places where the enemies can’t dodge it by climbing higher places.
