Metaphor ReFantazio has a story that lets you undertake a fantastical journey. Akin to a proper AAA title, the game offers various endings that depend on some crucial choices. Luckily, all of these bifurcate from a single point, and you can experience all of the endings in one playthrough if you wish to. Just save your game before 9/24 and keep loading to play all the endings in the game.
There are four endings in Metaphor ReFantazio, with three bad endings and one true ending. The true ending also offers one of the most difficult fights of the entire game. In this article, we will explain all the endings in Metaphor ReFantazio and also look at how you can get (or avoid) them.
All Endings in Metaphor ReFantazio
There are four endings in Metaphor ReFantazio. Three of these are considered to be the “bad endings,” while the final one is the “good” or “true ending” of the game. You will find that each of the endings has a unique title that relates to the “fantasy” of the game. These titles are also hints that can tell you whether the endings are good or bad.

Metaphor ReFantazio Bad Endings And How to Get Them
There are three bad endings in Metaphor ReFantazio:
1) Fantasy is Dead – Bad Ending With The Prince
The bad ending with the Prince is the earliest one you can possibly get in Metaphor ReFantazi and it takes place on 9/24. Here, you will travel to the Ancient Eldan Sanctum only to find out the Prince has been slain. After a long conversation with the Old Hermitess Gruidae, a Mysterious Voice will play in your head. This will mention several secrets about your identity, revealing how Ark is actually the manifestation of the Prince’s idealism.
If you choose not to become the Prince, the game will come to an abrupt end, with the ending screen saying Fantasy is Dead.
2) Fantasy Is Ruined – Bad Ending With Louis
The bad ending with Louis is probably the worst of the lot, and it takes place during the endgame. You will be able to get this ending between 9/26 and 10/25, when Loius will be waiting for you at the end of Skybound Avatar. Louis will engage in a lengthy conversation with you and your party here, where he will explain his vision to alter the current status of the world. He wants to create a world where humans run rampant and the existing hellish system is dealt with altogether.
It is a logical speech from Louis, and he will invite you to join him in creating this new utopia. If you choose the “You’re absolutely right” option, you will be led to the second bad ending of the game. Your companions will all be in shock, questioning your actions and the meaning of the journey overall. Eventually, they will be forced to accept you, and Louis will cast a spell to fulfill his dreams. After this sequence, you will reach an ending screen that will read Fantasy is Ruined.
3) Fantasy is Only Fiction – Bad ending with More
This ending takes place during the final battle with Louis on Tyrant’s Star on 10/26. Louis is a three-phase boss fight, and after you manage to defeat his first phase, the boss will seemingly kill you. Instead, you will find yourself transported back to Akademia, where More will be waiting for you. He will mention how your journey was indeed an illusion. Instead, his “novel” is the true world – a space between reality and fantasy.
More’s world will take you to a scene that looks like modern-day Japan from an anime. You will quickly realize that this is not the real world that he speaks of. If you accept whatever More says, it will trigger the final bad ending of the game. In the end, the screen will read Fantasy is Only Fiction.
Metaphor ReFantazio True Ending and How to Get it
You will simply have to ignore all the bad endings and defeat Louis to get the true ending of Metaphor ReFantazio. As mentioned before, Louis is a three-phase boss fight, and it can take you many tries to overcome this adversary. However, once you manage to beat him, you will win the majority of the kingdom’s support to finally become the new king. Ark will embark on a journey to explore the world, and this is the true ending of the game.
Your coronation will also take place, along with a cutscene that fast-forwards time for a year to record Euchronia’s change. The ending screen here will finally read the following: Fantasy Lives On.
