Man-Eater’s Grotto is the kind of cave that would be considered “forbidden” if you weren’t a powerful protagonist in an RPG. You should be wary of the dangers that lurk beneath. It’s not an easy place to explore and that’s why we are here to help you. Not only is the cave confusing to explore, but it also has some mobs that you may want to avoid.

You can set out for the Grotto once you have accepted the Bounty The Man-Eater in the Mine. The quest is available after 07/05 and has no deadline as such. Head to the Recruitment Center in Martitra and talk to the Recruiter Dispatcher. After this, head to the Gauntlet Runner and reach the location.

Finding Your Way Through Man-Eater’s Grotto

Go down the doorstep of the mine. Heal, gather items, change, or study Archetypes right here because things are about to get busy from here. Open the door in front of you to enter the location.

  • Starting Off in the Cave: There is no welcome party waiting for you at the doorstep. Continuing down the path, you will see an area to your left that is too high for the Protagonist to reach. Move on ahead, jump down, and there will be a Junior Rockworm Valmos. You will find the Worldly Adventurer in the Northwest. It’s just an NPC, but at least you won’t feel lonely in the cave now.
  • Mapping Out Exploration: Heading northeast from the Adventurer, you will find the Talkative Tooth on your left. The NPC stands next to a drop to a lower level. Don’t take it because it will take you to the entry area. Feel free to loot the area nearby and explore all that you can. You can return to the Worldly Adventurer for some more exploration. Heading North from the NPC will take you to another edge from where you can drop down. There are some items worth looting here, even in the corners. There will be a Magla Crystal blocking your path in the northwest. Some Juvenile Rock Valmos can also spawn. Be careful. You can see chests on the east, west, and south exits.
  • Only One Path to Success: Once you are done, head south to take the left exit and find another Plaintive Soldier NPC. You can go on straight and find the door to the boss fight.
  • For Those Who Wish to Fight More: Instead of heading north in the end, go in the opposite direction where you can find a Chimenza. Defeating it could reward you with something you desire, and the east exit in this location is a shortcut back to the entrance.

Defeating the Boss in Man-Eater’s Grotto

The main bounty here is on the Alpha Rockworm Valmo. It is probably the reason why you are in the cave in the first place. Now that you have visited to slay the vermins, let’s take a quick look at how to put an end to them without facing much trouble.

  • As usual, you need to be stocked up in healing items. Heading into the battle with full health will always be beneficial, but remember to hoard some recovery items to avoid status effects that the enemies may inflict on the party members. The Alpha Rockworm Valmo can inflict Paralysis and Fire effects on its opponents. Prepare accordingly.
  • This is a rather tough opponent because it does not have lots of weaknesses. The worm is only vulnerable to Ice attacks. Don’t prioritize Strike, Pierce, or Slash attacks because they may not work just as well. Synthesis skills will be a good way to make it bite the dust as quickly as possible.
  • At last, feel free to experiment with the Archetypes that you take into battle with you. However, we would highly recommend taking a Healer, a Gunner, and a Magic Knight with you for this Bounty Quest. Letting a Thief join your party may also prove useful. This combination of Archetypes can greatly impact your battles.
  • When eliminated, pick up whatever the boss had to offer and head back to your quest giver to wrap up the quest. You will be rewarded with an increased Courage and a whopping 20,000 Reeve.

  1. Why is it when I’m fighting the boss, my ice attacks aren’t giving me another turn? The fairy character even points out that ice should be its weakness but I’m not getting extra turns. I watched couple playthroughs from random YouTube channels and it’s showing them get an extra turn after using ice. 🤷😅
