As you attempt to infiltrate the Cathedral later during the Prologue quest, you encounter Grius once again, but this time as an undead abomination steered by the Necromancer. Undead Grius is a Level 11 boss that you have to beat to progress ahead into the Cathedral.
Preparation for Undead Grius in Metaphor ReFantazio
Grius is an undead and naturally displays weakness to light. Bring the Seeker Archetype into the fight to weaponize this weakness. Grius is also efficient in dealing with a crowd and can wipe out the entire party in one fell sweep if you’re not careful. So, you will require the Knight’s Proclamation Skill to draw his aggression on one member to stay safe.
Undead Grius: Recommended Party Setup
We recommend bringing the Protagonist with the Seeker Archetype to exploit Undead Grius’ weakness to light. Strohl and the Warrior Archetype would then be your source for physical damage to keep the barrage going. Lastly, Hulkenburg, with the Knight Archetype, will draw in his aggression and keep the rest of the party safe.
Undead Grius: Recommended Archetypes
We recommend bringing in the Seeker Archetype against Undead Grius. You will also need the Knight Archetype for the Knight’s Proclamation skill that draws enemy aggression to the user. More importantly, you will need the Knight, along with the Seeker, for the Rider of the Blade synthesis skill. This skill will allow you to exploit Grius’ weakness, while Dei will let you heal should you mess up in any way. Lastly, the Warrior Archetype will deal physical damage through the slash attacks.
Metaphor ReFantazio Undead Grius Battle Strategy
Your main goal in the fight is to exploit Undead Grius’ weakness to light. To do this, you will have to use the Rider of the Blade Synthesis skill. This skill is a combined attack that uses two turn icons and will also require the presence of the Knight Archetype. It will deal large chunks of damage to the boss, helping you deal with him swiftly.
You should also use the Knight’s Proclamation on each turn. This will ensure that Grius is unable to use a party-wide strike, the Phantom Dance, and will solely focus his attention on Hulkenberg and the Knight. Conveniently, the Knight user is also resistant to slash attacks, which comprise most of Grius’ attacks.
Use the Rider of the Blade skill on the regular while drawing attention towards Hulkenberg to claim victory against Undead Grius.
