Hiding armor pieces in Monster Hunter Wilds is a feature that is crucial for a specific group of people. Hunters who like to hunt in style want to customize their characters completely. Although the character creation in the beginning lets you do exactly that, the game’s gear offers little freedom to have full control over your Hunter’s appearance. This is where the feature for hiding your armor and helmet comes in.

Yes, it is possible to hide the gear responsible for your overall appearance. There are a few reasons why you would want to do it. However, the primary reason is that you probably spent a lot of time making your character. Maybe you wanted it to look like you, somebody you know, or just created it for the sheer fun of it. If you can’t even look at the character, what was the point of spending so much time deciding where to place its nose? Additionally, some gear pieces may offer good stats but might not sit right with your fashion choices.

Due to these and more reasons, players wish to hide their gear pieces. But how can they do it? Let’s fill up your curiosity.

The most prominent way of hiding your armor is by visiting either the game’s base camps or the pop-up camps. Once you are there, follow the steps below:

  • Head to the tent of the base or pop-up camp to open the interactive menu.
  • Scroll to the Appearance Menu on the far right.
  • Select Equipment Appearance.
  • You can now choose the pieces of armor you wish to hide on the Hunter.

Players will also have the option to change the color of their armor pieces under this menu. Moreover, if they want to keep an armored look on, they can also use Layered Armor. This helps them adorn some other look while using the stats from the equipped armor.

The helmet can also be changed using a different method. For this, you must open the Options menu and go to the Game Settings tab. Now, you can toggle the visibility of your helmet by changing the Head Armor Visibility option.
