Everything you need to know about the Doshaguma of the Hollow Arena Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, including requirements, rewards, and more.

The Arena Quests are easily the best new additions to Monster Hunter Wilds, especially for players who are looking for a more compelling endgame loop. Much like the event quests, the Arena also has special Challenge Quests which come with their special rewards.
Doshaguma of the Hollow is the first of these Arena Challenge Quests. The quest pits you against a Doshaguma, albeit with much lower-tier gear compared to what you have access to in High Rank. In High Rank, Doshaguma isn’t particularly threatening. However, given you don’t get access to your own build for this quest, it makes hunting the monster incredibly challenging. Furthermore, you also have to contend with the time limitations for better ranking.
Thankfully, there are ways to make this quest easy and take down the Doshaguma without much hassle. Here’s everything you need to know about the Doshaguma of the Hollow Arena Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Requirements for Doshaguma of the Hollow Arena Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Doshaguma of the Hollow is an Arena Quest, which is unlocked after reaching Hunter Rank (HR) 15. You essentially need to complete the Low Rank campaign and reach High Rank. In the High Rank campaign, progress till you reach HR 15 and head back to Suja. At Suja, talk to Tetsuzan to unlock the Gathering Hub (Grand Hub). Once you unlock the Grand Hub, simply head to the quest counter, and you can access the Arena Quests.
The Doshaguma of the Hollow quest can be found under the Challenge Quests tab. For those who are new to Monster Hunter, Arena Quests are separate from the Assignment, Investigations, and Optional Quests. Arena Quests in Monster Hunter Wilds work essentially the same way as they did in Monster Hunter Rise. You’re given a specific monster to hunt in the game’s dedicated arena (Wounded Hollow), with specific time constraints. The primary objective of an Arena Quest is to hunt the monster in the most time-efficient manner possible. Furthermore, instead of using your own build, Arena Quests have their specific preset builds and weapons. You cannot use your own custom build for these quests.
Every Arena Quest offers multiple weapon choices. Additionally, in Monster Hunter Wilds, the Challenge Quests offer a custom build for every weapon type. However, it should be noted that you cannot carry additional restoratives, traps, or even consumables with you on these quests.
Tips To Complete Doshaguma of the Hollow Arena Quest

Doshaguma isn’t a particularly challenging monster. However, with a rather rudimentary build that you will have access to for the quest, hunting down a Doshaguma can end up feeling like a challenge similar to Gore Magala or Arkveld. However, there are ways to make this quest easier.
Doshaguma is quite weak to elemental damage. Furthermore, it’s also one of the few monsters in the game (akin to Chatacabra, Balahara, and Arkveld) that’s quite easy to wound. The most efficient way to deal damage to the monster is to create wounds and topple it. Although you won’t have access to traps, you can use mounting and the terrain to your advantage.
Start the hunt with a mount, and perform a wall bang to deal damage to the monster and also tenderize its head and back. Do note that Doshaguma’s head and back take extra damage once tenderized. Furthermore, mounting also allows you to instantly topple the monster, which is an easy way to dish out damage. If you’re a melee user, you would want to stick close to the monster’s frontal limbs. Doshaguma has a 2- and 3-hit combo, which is quite easy to perfect guard (Power Clash) or counter using an Offset Attack.
Additionally, the front legs and head are the weakest parts of the monster, which are also the easiest to wound. Additionally, once the Doshaguma reaches critical, it enrages, which automatically creates multiple wounds on the monster’s body. Use this opportunity to immediately retaliate with a Focus Strike. Lastly, make sure to keep your health topped up. Without the food buffs, your defenses will be quite low, and keeping your HP topped up will be quite essential for survival.
Rewards for Completing Doshaguma of the Hollow Arena Quest

Completing the quest within the time limit rewards you with the Pinnacle Coin, which can be used to craft exclusive headgear. Getting the B or C rank grants you a single Pinnacle Coin, some Max Potions, and also Demondrug. However, to get more of these coins, you need to get an A rank. Here are the timings of the different rankings:
Time Ranking | Time Limit |
---|---|
A | 05’00″00 |
B | 10’00″00 |
C | 50’00″00 |
