The Quematrice is a Brute Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter Wilds. This creature is known for spewing a flammable substance that it then ignites using its tail. They can be found roaming around Windward Plains and the Ruins of Wyveria.
However, they don’t really hunt for their own prey. Instead, they scavenge for what remains from other predators. Due to their nature of feeding off of leftovers from other beasts, they often find themselves fighting against other creatures.

Quematrice Overview
The Quematrice are known for disproportionately long tails and rooster-like body structure. Their tail can be used like a match, dragging it on the ground to ignite flammable substances. Due to this nature, it is immune to Fire element attacks but is vulnerable to the Water element.
How To Unlock Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds
You first encounter Quematrice during the Village of Whispering Winds main story quest. Afterward, you will be able to find this creature roaming freely in the open world of Monster Hunter Wilds.
Where To Find Quematrice?
The native habitat of Quematrice is in the Windward Plains. However, you can also find it walking around the Ruins of Wyveria region. However, if you proceed to fight the creature, it can jump from various locations in the area.
Possible Turf Wars for Quematrice
Quematrice can engage in battles with Rathian, Rathalos’s female counterpart. During this time, you can wait until the fight is over and strike when the creatures are in their weakened state.

Quematrice Weaknesses
Quematrice is vulnerable to Water-element attacks. Use weapons imbued with the Water element to deal the most damage to its weak spots. Additionally, it is also weak against Poison and Paralysis attacks. This means items like Flash Pods, Shock Traps, and Pitfall Traps can disorient it and provide a window of opportunity to land heavy blows on the monster.

How To Beat Quematrice in MH Wilds
When fighting Quematrice, you will need to avoid its tail, as it can stun you if you get hit. Additionally, you will receive the Fireblight status effect. Once it starts wiggling its tail or raising it up, prepare to dodge.
This monster often uses its tail to attack. However, it is also capable of a rush attack while its mouth is wide open. Alternatively, it can do a basic pecking attack with its beak four consecutive times.
Tips To Defeat Quematrice
Here are some tips to keep in mind while hunting Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Do not get too close to its tail.
- Prioritize its head, and you will eventually hit its neck.
- Get an armor with Fire or Blight Resistance.
- Prioritize dodging attacks and do not risk attacking while it’s also attacking.
- Learn how to do the Superman Dive. It can be handy in most situations.
- Do not let Status Effects linger too long. Use Nullberries as soon as possible.
- Use traps to momentarily immobilise it. Once the monster stops, land as many hits as you can before it gets back on its feet.
