Monster Hunter Wilds integrates its pinging system directly into the game itself. Think of it like how Dead Space has its navigation system as a part of the in-game lore. In Wilds, you have to rely on slinging Paint Pods as a means of using the ping system.
“Slinger ammo that makes a monster or location temporarily easier to find,” the Paint Pods ammunition description reads. To use this ammunition, you have to first equip the Paint Pods ammunition for your slinger. You can do so by using the quick slots on the bottom right corner of your screen. Equip the ammo and use your slinger to fire the Paint Pods ammo by pressing R2/RT. Whatever the Paint Pods land on, be it a monster or a location, will be marked temporarily, getting pinged for other players to see.
