Monster Hunter Wilds: How To Switch Weapons

Monster Hunter Wilds allows players to switch between the primary and secondary weapons in real-time—here’s how. 

For the first time in the franchise, hunters (players) can now carry two weapons and switch between them during mid-hunt. This new feature is tied to the player’s loyal mount, Seikrat. In addition to being a trustworthy mount during dangerous encounters, Seikrat also allows you to carry one additional weapon and switch between them at will. 

Switching between the primary and secondary weapons offers a more versatile and dynamic approach to combat, enhancing the hunting experience. For example, they can now tactically use different weapons based on the situation and the monster’s weakness. Additionally, this feature allows players to have greater weapon varieties during co-op hunts. This guide explains how to equip and switch weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How To Equip Primary and Secondary Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds? 

While the new mid-battle weapon switching feature is highly beneficial, it is not available right away. You will receive the special saddle that allows you to carry your secondary weapon during the second main story mission, Village of Whispering Winds, after defeating Quematrice. 

To set up your primary and secondary weapons, follow these steps:

• Enter your Tent at the base or pop-up camps. 
• Look for the ‘Change Equipment’ option. 
• This will display your primary and secondary weapons, along with other gear such as helmets, chest armor, armguards, waist gear, and leg armor.
• Choose your primary and secondary weapons from the 14 available weapon types.
• You will carry your primary weapon along with you, while the secondary weapon will be placed in Seikret’s saddle. 

How To Swap Weapons Mid-Battle in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Now that we know how to equip your primary and secondary weapons, here is how to switch between them: 

• Press X on PC or the right D-Pad on consoles.
• This will automatically prompt your hunter to mount Seikret and swap the other weapon from the saddle.
• You can also switch your weapons while riding Seikret. 

Since switching weapons mid-fight leaves you vulnerable to incoming attacks, make sure to position yourself at a safe distance from monsters before swapping your weapons.
