Monster Hunter Wilds features a range of endemic life forms for you to collect, and catching some of them also leads to you unlocking trophies. One such trophy or achievement is ‘A Prize Held High,’ and to get it, you’ll first need to capture a Curioshell Crab.
Although this specific life form exists across all of the biomes in the game, finding and catching one can seem tricky. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can locate and catch a Curioshell Crab in Monster Hunter Wilds easily.
Where To Find Curioshell Crab in Monster Hunter Wilds?

While many endemic creatures are specific to one or two biomes in the game, that isn’t the case for the Curioshell Crab. You can find it in various areas of each of the maps. However, you might have an easier time finding the creature in the Windward Plains. Head to Areas 17, 14, or 6 in this region to spot the crab. If for some reason, you fail to find the crab here, you can also try your luck in the Scarlet Forest.
In the forest region, head to the Area 6 pop-up campsite and look around or you can also check Area 8. This is where the Curioshell Crab often spawns in this particular biome. Now that you know some areas where you can find the endemic creature, let’s understand how to capture it.

How To Capture the Curioshell Crab

You will need to access the capture net to catch the Curioshell Crab. Ready the net whenever you spot the crab and be ready to throw the net toward it. You can also use Alma’s cues to understand when an endemic life form is nearby. She’ll say something to draw your attention to these creatures. As soon as you catch the Curioshell Crab, you’ll unlock the achievement, ‘A Prize Held High.’ But that’s not all. You will also receive an Ancient Wyvern Coin whenever you catch hold of this crab.
Repeatedly capturing this endemic creature would aid you in farming coins. Then you can use the collected Ancient Wyvern Coins to trade with Gawdygog in the Wudwud Hideout.
