The Deployment Phase is divided into the Drawing, Playing and Ending stages. Let’s dive into how each of these stages progress during the Deployment Phase.

Drawing Cards

You will draw several types of cards during this phase. The following are the type of cards and the order in which you’ll draw them.

  • The first draw will be cards that are affected by Artifacts. The Attuned Whetstone artifact will help you draw an Equipment card and decrease its costs to 0. Similarly, the Dante’s Footstool augmentation draws a Room card and decreases its cost to 0.
  • Next, you will draw your preferred Champion card.
  • You will draw banner cards next.
  • Lastly, you will draw Room and Equipment cards that are deployable due to upgrades.

The maximum hand size is 10. So, if your deck has too many banner units, you might reach this cap before you can draw the deployable Room and Equipment cards.

Playing Cards

You will have to be strategic while playing your cards during the Deployment Phase. You can choose to play any of the ones in your hand, with only a couple of restrictions to keep in mind.

  • You cannot play a card whose Ember cost is more than the total Deployment Ember. You can check the Deployment Ember toward the bottom left portion of the screen.
  • You will also need to adhere to the floor’s maximum capacity. So, the units you play must be within this maximum floor capacity range. By default, most floors have a capacity of five. You can check how much floor capacity any of your cards takes by taking a look at the number of yellow ovals on top of it.

Ending the Turn

After you’ve played the cards, you can end the Deployment Phase. To do so, click on the End Turn button. As soon as you do this, all the remaining cards in your hand will go back into your deck.

So, when the first wave begins, you might be able to draw the undeployed banner units from the Deployment Phase or the deployable Equipment and Room cards. If you have an undeployed Champion card at the end of the Deployment Phase, you might even draw that during the first wave.
