With the new Monster Hunter on the way, let’s take a look at the 5 bosses in Monster Hunter World that made us sweat the most!
Monster Hunter World is all about difficult boss fights and overcoming them. Even the easiest of them can be hectic at first, especially if you are new to the game. However, as you progress and finish it, there will be some enemies imprinted in your mind till whenever you remember the game.
Today, we have prepared a short list of such creatures that we took down while playing Monster Hunter World. Since the latest game, Monster Hunter Wilds is closing in on its release date, now is a good time to be nostalgic about the 2018 title.
Kindly note that this list is subjective, contains the writer’s opinions, and is not ranked in any way. Following are the names that we think gave us a lot of trouble while fighting:
- Anjanath

5 Difficult Monsters in Monster Hunter World
1. Anjanath
Anjanath is one of the brute wyverns in the game. It lurks around the Ancient Forest or Wildspire Waste. It attacks smaller monsters and the protagonist, of course. There are ways to defeat it but the strengths often overshadow the weaknesses.
It can spit out fiery blasts and is resistant to fire and a little resistant to blast damage. Although Anjanath has more weaknesses than many other monsters on this list, his intimidating appearance makes things even worse.
2. Azure Rathalos
This nightmarish creature is found in the Ancient Forest and Elder’s Recess. Unlike Anjanath, Azure can even target more fearsome bosses. There are some weak points on the boss but you may have trouble hitting them because this wyvern flies as well.
You can study its pattern, like you are supposed to but it has quite a lot of strengths that you need to watch out for. I remember getting frustrated while trying to counter its aerial attacks and Fireblight. It can blast fire from its mouth and the talons even inflict poison.
3. Uragaan
The Uragaan can be extremely challenging. It is also a Brute Wyvern like Anjanath but is found in Elder’s Recess instead. Its weak point is if you are a head hitter using dual blades and ranged weapons.
It has an attack where it drops red explosive balls. So, if you can use visual and audio cues to dodge, do so. Make sure to run away from it as far as possible if it starts shaking in its place. This is because it’s the onset of a steam attack. The Uragaan has quite a lot of strengths.
4. Kushala Daora
Another entry from Ancient Forest or Elder’s Recess is Kushala Daora. You can encounter this monstrosity here. It is an Elder Dragon and has a majestically intimidating look while constantly hunting down other big monsters that are also difficult to take down.
Beware because its wings are not just for show. It can also use them. There is also a counter for these moves but I found it pretty difficult to handle it. This is exactly why taking it down is so satisfying!
5. Lavasioth
Lavasioth is a Piscine Wyvern and can be a pretty difficult boss to come around. In fact, I came across it before beating the game and was much under-leveled to face it despite having a good build.
Much like any other character, it is weak in the head and underbelly. However, you will have plenty of trouble aiming for these parts especially if you are going for a melee-focused fight. You may also find it resistant to Thunder and Ice Elements. It also has an Underground attack that makes you want to quit this fight immediately.
