YouTuber James “MrBeast” Donaldson revealed that he started a breakfast program in West Africa to promote higher school attendance. He revealed that his program is a success with schools reporting a 10% increase in attendance after a week of free meals. The YouTuber claims that there are over 1.5 million children in the child labor sector, and he wants to stop it.

The YouTuber claims he is working with the “greatest minds” to improve lives for children in the West African region. He has a 12-month plan to reduce the rampant child labor problem and claims if he can’t fix it, no one can.

Many internet users criticized him for focusing on other countries while not helping Americans. MrBeast responded to them saying he distributes “millions upon millions of meals every year in America”. He also told his audience that he does not publicize everything he does on social media for views.

MrBeast Has a 12-Month Plan To Reduce Child Labor in West Africa

On March 20, 2025, MrBeast talked about the child labor problem in West Africa and said:

“To help get kids out of child labor on cocoa farms in west Africa we started giving away free breakfast at schools (kids are more likely to go if they know they will be fed) and one school’s attendance is already up 10% in the first week.”

He also revealed a 12-month plan that aims to reduce child labor in the region. The YouTuber added:

“I’m probably 2 to 3 thousand hours into learning how I can get as many of the 1,500,000 kids in child labor in west Africa off farms and into schools. I’ve surrounded myself with the greatest minds and I feel like I know more about child labor in Africa than I do YouTube now lol. Over these next 12 months I hope to make a lot of progress and bring you all along for the journey. I fear if someone with my influence can’t fix this, no one can. I’m dedicated to this mission.”

The Youtuber Is Trying To Make Ethically Sourced Chocolates

MrBeast has talked about child labor in the past and his chocolate brand “Feastables” upholds the same principles. The chocolate industry is heavily criticized for child labor and Feastables has taken steps to ensure the products are ethically made. The company sources its cocoa from Peru and West Africa.

When MrBeast launched Feastables globally, he talked about its partnership with the Child Labour Monitoring and Remediation Systems (CLMRS) to ensure his products are child-labor-free. He also talked about how his products were “better than Hershey’s” and used the best ingredients possible. His products are available worldwide and help fund his Beast Philanthropy project.

However, shortly after the product’s launch, all information about the chocolates being ethically sourced was removed. It led to internet users questioning if the YouTuber talked about being child-labor-free just for a positive product launch.
