Despite Mycopunk’s emphasis on co-op, you can play the game solo, but the process to play solo isn’t as direct as you may think.

Mycopunk has just released in Early Access, and the game has hit the ground running. This PvE first-person shooter takes cues from popular shooters such as Borderlands and Deep Rock Galactic and executes them to perfection. The game is already one of the best co-op games of the year and one you absolutely must experience.
With so much talk about the game as a co-op experience, you may feel discouraged from trying it out if you’re a solo player. The game has four classes, and these classes synergize perfectly with each other, further encouraging co-op play. Despite all of that, you can play Mycopunk solo, but the process isn’t as direct as you may think. We will discuss this in detail below.

As stated earlier, you can play Mycopunk solo, but the process is a bit complicated. To play the game solo, you need to create a private lobby before queuing. To do that, follow the steps below:
- Load up a session of Mycopunk and head to the inventory.
- Look at the top of your screen and you’ll see three tabs. Click on the Socials tab. This will open the squad-based options for the game.
- Under the Socials tab, select the option to Join a Crew. This will open a mini-menu where you can adjust the joining options.
- In the mini-menu, set your visibility to private. It is set to public by default, so you will have to change it.
- Once you’ve set the visibility to private, your lobby will become private. The game will not allow players to join and will not queue you with other players. This means your session will be solo, and you can experience the missions by yourself.
Take note that while Mycopunk can be played solo, the game has been designed with a four-player squad experience in mind. It frequently throws large hordes of enemies at you, and hordes this large are best handled with a squad of players by your side. Despite the balancing issues, the game can still be played solo if you lower the difficulty a bit.
