The newly released Nvidia RTX 5060 appears to be better than the Intel Arc B580, but is it really, considering it has only 8GB of memory?

According to the latest data from the Steam Hardware Survey for June 2025, the Nvidia RTX 3060 and 4060 are two of the most popular desktop GPUs in the world. This shows just how popular Nvidia’s 60-class graphics cards are. The newly released RTX 5060 should also find its place alongside the RTX 4060 and 3060 in the Steam Hardware Survey.
However, the RTX 5060 will have some tough competition this year in the form of the Intel Arc B580 GPU. That’s because the latter has 12GB of memory, which is not only more than the former but also faster. In this article, we will compare the two graphics cards and find out which is better.

Nvidia RTX 5060 vs Intel Arc B580: Detailed Comparison

Before we start comparing the Nvidia RTX 5060 and Intel Arc B580, let’s look at their specs to get a better idea of what these two cards are capable of:
Specs Comparison
Specifications | Nvidia RTX 5060 | Intel Arc B580 |
Architecture | Blackwell | Xe2 Battlemage |
Shader cores | 3840 | 2560 |
RT cores | 30 | 20 |
TMUs | 120 | 160 |
ROPs | 48 | 80 |
Base core clock speeds | 2280 MHz | 2670 MHz |
Boost core clock speeds | 2497 MHz | 2670 MHz |
Memory capacity | 8 GB GDDR7 | 12 GB GDDR6 |
Memory bus width | 128-bit | 192 bit |
Memory bandwidth | 448 GB/s | 456.0 GB/s |
Manufacturing node | 5nm | 5nm |
Thermal design power (TDPs) | 145W | 190W |
The Nvidia RTX 5060 has more shader cores, but the Intel Arc B580 has more VRAM with higher bandwidth. The latter also has higher core clock speeds. However, specs don’t always translate to real-world gaming performance, which is why we are going to do an actual gaming performance comparison of the two GPUs to find out which is better.
Performance Benchmarks

Both the Nvidia RTX 5060 and the Intel Arc B580 are designed for 1080p gaming but differ in performance. Here’s how the two cards perform in some popular games:
Games | Nvidia RTX 5060 | Intel Arc B580 |
Doom: The Dark Ages (Medium Settings) | 76 FPS | 61 FPS |
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 | 73 FPS | 52 FPS |
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows | 60 FPS | 46 FPS |
Alan Wake 2 | 61 FPS | 50 FPS |
Indiana Jones and The Great Circle (Medium Settings) | 76 FPS | 76 FPS |
The Last of Us: Part 2 | 100 FPS | 81 FPS |
God of War Ragnarok | 74 FPS | 57 FPS |
Cyberpunk 2077 | 109 FPS | 96 FPS |
Note: The two GPUs here were tested at 1080p resolution with High/Ultra Settings unless mentioned otherwise. All the FPS numbers were sourced from the Iceberg Tech channel on YouTube. For the tests, the two graphics cards were tested with a Ryzen 5 7500F mid-range CPU.
The Nvidia RTX 5060 consistently provided more FPS than the Intel Arc B580 in almost every game mentioned. The former is about 21% faster than the latter. However, you may have noticed that Medium graphics settings were used in Doom: The Dark Ages and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. This was done to prevent the Nvidia RTX 5060 from crashing or causing performance issues.
The RTX 5060’s 8GB VRAM is not enough for those two games. Using High or Ultra settings causes random FPS drops in Doom: The Dark Ages, while Indiana Jones and The Great Circle straight up crashed. Intel Arc B580 has no issues playing both games at either High or Ultra settings, while the RTX 5060 may age poorly. That’s because future games will require more VRAM, which is why many users argue against buying an 8GB graphics card.
Price Comparison
The Nvidia RTX 5060 is launched at $299 and is regularly available at that price. On the other hand, the Intel Arc B580 was launched at $249. However, it is currently available for $300 to $320 in the US or $279 to $300 in other regions.
Final Verdict on Nvidia RTX 5060 vs Intel Arc B580

The Nvidia RTX 5060 is obviously the better GPU out of the two since it is 21% faster. However, the choice is not clear, as the RTX 5060 has lower VRAM than the Intel Arc B580. It would have been better if the RTX 5060 had 12GB VRAM. That would have made it the best of both worlds, but unfortunately, that’s not the reality we live in.
You will have to decide which is more important. The RTX 5060 delivers faster performance with medium graphics, while the Arc B5809 can provide lower performance with higher graphics. Then there’s also the factor of pricing, so make a choice based on your requirements and budget.
