The Tame Beast skill gem has been a game-changer for most huntress players in POE 2. Here’s how and where you can tame beasts using the gems.

The new Tame Beast unique skill introduced for the Huntress class in the Dawn of the Hunt update has been game-changing. This skill allows you to capture rare beasts in the world of POE 2 and use their abilities as companions. Currently, you can have one companion linked to your account, with room for another if you have the Trusted Kinship keystone. But how do you tame these beasts, and where?
Tame Beasts in POE2

While it was introduced for the Huntress class, the skill gem is available to anyone who wants to tame beasts. You typically receive the gem around level 31 (Act 3), where it’s available under the Huntress tab. Equipping this gem allows you to tame beast-type mobs. The game helps by identifying the monster categories around you.
However, you can summon only one beast companion at a time. But if you have the Trusted Kinship keystone, you can summon two companion beasts of different types together. Although reported to be a bit buggy in implementation, Yriel’s Fostering chest allows you to summon one additional companion. This means you can keep another beast type for your builds.
These beasts mainly serve as support for your main build. However, some players have been running full minion builds.
What Do You Need To Tame Beasts?
First, you need a Tame Beast skill gem equipped and a rare beast nearby to capture. Prime locations for rare beasts are Jungle Ruins, Troubled Camp, and Infested Barrens. These are ideal locations as beast spawns are faster.
The beast gem will turn into a companion gem once you successfully capture a beast-type mob. This means you will lose the original beast gem.
How To Tame Beasts in Path of Exile 2

To tame beasts in POE 2, you must use the Tame Beast skill on a rare beast when you spot a pink/purple bar glowing beneath its HP bar. The beast will be infused by the Azmeri Wisp, which debuffs it for 8 to 11 seconds depending on the gem’s level. You must kill the monster within this time to capture it. Once captured, your beast gem will be consumed, and you will receive a companion summoning gem.
The beast is revivable and retains four of its modifiers. You can use the beast as support for your build, as it doesn’t deal much damage unless you build it that way. The Trusted Kinship keystone lets you summon another companion beast, but of a different type. These companion gems cannot be traded and are limited to one per account.
