The Alpine is the third biome in PEAK that takes place after the Shore and the Tropics, and is considerably more difficult than the first two. This time, you will be venturing into a snowy mountain with treacherous terrain. Mix that with the natural hazards, such as the freezing blizzard, and you will have a tough time navigating through this level safely. But don’t worry — in this article, we have provided some essential tips that are simple and easy to follow, and they will help you make it out of the Alps.

Alpine will be the first true test that players face in PEAK. Of course, the Shore and the Tropics have their own obstacles, but they are not as harsh or challenging as the snowy lands. The game reflects the nature of the terrain quite well — food will be scarce, claiming anything will be more difficult, and you will constantly be halted by blizzards. To tackle such issues, follow the tips below.

Take Shelter During the Snowstorms

Natural hazards in PEAK are a gameplay mechanic featured in almost every biome. For Alpine, it is the snowstorms — also known as blizzards — that occur randomly. Once one starts, the cold wind will drain your stamina bar and eventually freeze you if you do not take shelter. Keep in mind that trees don’t count as shelters; you will only be protected behind terrain. You will also find many Heatpacks inside luggage, which help restore stamina quickly after the blizzards.

Use the Icy Spikes to Climb

The Alpine biome’s harsh and snowy nature creates brutal terrain that is difficult to climb. Since you won’t have any vines or bridges either, your options become quite limited. To climb safely on this level, you will have to use the Icy Spikes. Most of the time, these areas will be sticking out of various cliffs. In addition, you can sometimes find resources in them, but locating and navigating through them is no easy task.

Also, always keep a lookout for any dark blue marks on the ground — these are essentially traps that freeze you if you walk over them.

Find the Capybara Spring

You might think the Alpine biome is full of tough challenges, which is true. However, it also has some good things, and one of them is the Capyara Spring. Yes, it is exactly how it sounds.

While you traverse the harsh terrain of the snowy mountain, you might come across some Capybaras hanging out in a hot spring hidden among the cliffs. You can find them by following the smoke trail coming out of the warm waters, but you must reach a significant height to see it.

It is true that the Capybaras do not contribute much to your survival or climbing. However, you can unlock the Animal Serenading Badge in PEAK by playing the bugle around them.
