Twitch streamer Pirate Software addressed the “hate raids” he received after a World of Warcraft raid with other streamers went wrong.
Twitch streamer Jason “Thor” Hall, also known as Pirate Software, allegedly received death threats after a World of Warcraft (WoW) Classic Hardcore raid went wrong. Pirate is part of the popular streamer-only OnlyFangs guild, and he was recently playing with fellow content creators. During the run, some alleged mistakes caused two players, “Snupy” and “Sara,” to die in hardcore mode.
Many within the World of Warcraft community blamed Pirate Software’s gameplay and allegedly sent death threats. The situation prompted OnlyFangs guild leader and popular WoW streamer Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris to step in and address the situation.
Sodapoppin told the WoW community he agrees that Pirate Software made mistakes during the raid. However, he found that the viewers are “going too far with it” and that the controversy is “annoying.” Pirate Software put out a statement addressing the controversy and asked his audience not to attack anyone.
Pirate Software’s Response To Ongoing Drama
Twitch users allegedly hate raided Pirate to send him death threats. The streamer made a post and addressed the situation, saying:
“Our party went the wrong way and overpulled multiple packs with a boss. The shotcaller made the call to run then went back on that call. During the run out another pack was pulled as we had opted to skip it previously which is never a good thing. Communication was completely broken throughout this and it was our second time failing the dungeon. Everyone played poorly and two people ultimately lost their characters for it. “
He said that everyone in the raid group made mistakes and acknowledged that he wasn’t “perfect.” He wanted the community to stop putting the blame on a single person. Pirate added:
“To pin that on a single person is absurd at best and if you’re calling for death and cancellation over it you’re too invested in this content in a very unhealthy way. If you’re a creator engaging in this kind of behavior then eventually your content wave will end but the relationships you’ve sullied will be permanent. Hope it was worth it for you.”
The streamer revealed that he had to ban over 4,000 accounts that targeted him in Twitch chat. He ended his post saying that the “internet hate machine” will never defeat him and he will return to streaming WoW Hardcore on January 14, 2025.
Sodapoppin Addresses the WoW Community
Twitch streamer Sodapoppin read Pirate Software’s statement live on stream. He called Pirate’s play in the raid “terrible,” but he felt that the WoW community went too far and escalated the drama. Soda said on stream:
“‘Each person made mistakes, including myself.’ Okay. I mean, he’s got a point. Viewers are going way too far with it. His play was terrible, he ratted out hard. Despite that people, it’s getting crazy. It has gone really far.”
Later in the stream, Soda felt that Pirate had a chance to save Snupy and Sara and criticized his plays. Pirate Software told the community that he resolved the issues and will return to streaming WoW with OnlyFangs on his next stream.
