This Pokemon Deck guide was made for standard edition during the Twilight Masquerade expansion.

Teal Mask Ogerpon ex Deck Guide for Pokemon TCG

In Pokemon TCG, the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex Deck is based on the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex Pokemon card, which can accelerate energy and draw cards. This deck combines the rapid energy acceleration of Ogerpon with the knockout power of Raging Bolt Ex. Using a combination of discarding, supports, and massive drawing potential; you will load up your bench with energy to feed Raging Bolt Ex.

What makes the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex deck unique is that the card acts as a knockout Pokemon against high-energy Pokemon like Iron Hands ex, but also as a feeder to accelerate energy and draw cards. It’s a jack of all trades pokemon that aids in all aspects of the game and is one of the strongest meta decks in Standard Edition.

We will go through the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex decklist, a guide on how to play it, and the crucial cards. Let’s first show you the deck list so you understand the premise behind the deck.

Key Cards in Teal Mask Ogerpon ex Pokemon TCG Deck

Below are the most essential key cards in the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex Deck:

  • Teal Mask Ogerpon ex – this Pokemon accelerates energy, and multiple can be used on your bench to accelerate further energy and drawing potential.
  • Raging Bolt ex – your primary knockout Pokemon is used for big damage with discarding energy (active or bench).
  • Iono – a way to counter decks that hold onto cards and refresh your hand when low.
  • Professor Sada’s Vitality – an acceleration Supporter that pulls energy from your discard and attaches it directly to bench Pokemon.
  • Earthen Vessel – an energy feeder card that searches for energy and allows you to discard one card.

Teal Mask Ogerpon ex

Teal Mask Ogerpon ex TWM 25 Pokemon TCG

Teal Mask Ogerpon ex Features in Pokemon TCG:

  • Pokémon: Ex
  • HP: 210
  • Teal Dance: Once during your turn, you may attach a Basic Grass Energy card from your hand to this Pokémon. If you attached Energy to a Pokémon in this way, draw a card.
  • Myriad Leaf Shower: 30+ for 3x grass energy. This attack does 30 more damage for each Energy attached to both Active Pokémon.
  • Pokémon ex rule:
  • Weakness: When your Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.
  • Resistance: None
  • Retreat Cost: 1x colorless energy
  • Set: Twilight Masquerade 25/167 Double Rare

The strength of Teal Mask Ogerpon ex is that it does three things in one card: accelerates energy with Teal Dance, increases drawing with Teal Dance, and damages Myriad Leaf Shower. You mostly use this card as an energy feeder to power Raging Bolt Ex. Moreover, the retreat cost of one is low, so if you start with Ogerpon in your active spot, you can easily retreat and power up the card again.

Ideally, you want two of these cards on your bench. You can power up both of them with one grass energy per turn, and if you need to attack, attach one manually. You won’t be able to attack on turn one going second, but it’s good when you need an attack without Raging Bolt ex-powered up. The best counter to Iron Hands Ex fully powered up is a three or four-energy Ogerpon Ex.

Raging Bolt ex

Raging Bolt ex TWM 25 Pokemon TCG

Raging Bolt ex Features in Pokemon TCG:

  • Pokémon: Ex
  • HP: 240
  • Burst Roar: 1x colorless energy – Discard your hand and draw 6 cards.
  • Bellowing Thunder: 70× You may discard any amount of Basic Energy from your Pokémon. This attack does 70 damage for each card you discarded in this way.
  • Pokémon ex rule: When your Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.
  • Weakness: none
  • Resistance: none
  • Retreat Cost: 3x colorless energy
  • Set: Temporal Forces 123/162 Double Rare

Initially released in Temporal Forces, Raging Bolt ex wasn’t nearly the meta monster due to Roaring Moon ex. However, that deck has faded in usage due to support and item cards being outside of the standard edition, and now Raging Bolt ex is the big knockout Pokemon. You want to have this in your active position going second on turn one, with one on your bench. Ideally, you’d have either Radiant Greninja or Squawkabiliy on your bench with two Teal Mask Ogerpon ex.

Your goal is to power up Raging Bolt ex through discarding lighting and fighting energy, then using Professor Sada’s Vitality to get two energies attached. You then can attach another energy to your main Pokemon and attack on turn one if you go second. Therefore, tactically discard energy and look to accelerate Raging Bolt and Ogerpon ex.

Iono

Iono - Pokemon TCG

Iono Features in Pokemon TCG:

  • Trainer: Supporter
  • Choose up to 2 of your Ancient Pokémon and attach a Basic Energy card from your discard pile to each of them. If you attached any Energy in this way, draw 3 cards.
  • Set: Paradox Rift170/182 Uncommon

When using Iono, you want to do this on one going first or when a deck has many cards. Usually, Snorlax or Lost Box decks hang out to many cards, which can thwart their plans. Moreover, if a deck has taken two or more prize cards, this can be helpful for playing. Your main goal is to use this to refresh your hand when you are missing one energy or another key card to power up Raging Bolt ex. Use Iono as discard material later in matches when your hand is full.

Professor Sada’s Vitality

Professor Sada's Vitality Pokemon TCG

Professor Sada’s Vitality Features in Pokemon TCG:

  • Trainer: Supporter
  • Choose up to 2 of your Ancient Pokémon and attach a Basic Energy card from your discard pile to each of them. If you attached any Energy in this way, draw 3 cards.
  • Set: Paradox Rift170/182 Uncommon

When it comes to accelerating Raging Bolt ex, this is your Pokemon TCG card in the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex Deck. The trick to using Professor Sada’s Vitality is to discard the correct energy on turn one. You can do this with Radiant Greninja, Squawkabilly ex, Ultra Ball, and Earthen Vessel. These cards are precious and attempt to have two Raging Bolt ex on your bench and active so you can feed two energies. We also put Pal Pad in the deck so if you run out, use that item card to gain more usage.

Earthen Vessel

Pokemon TCG Earthen Vessel

Earthen Vessel Features in Pokemon TCG:

  • Trainer â€“ Item
  • You can use this card only if you discard another card from your hand.  Search your deck for up to 2 Basic Energy cards, reveal them, and put them into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.
  • Set: Paradox Rift124/182 Double Rare

You must tactically play Earthen Vessel to discard energy purposefully for Professor Sada’s Vitality or to gain Grass energy to feed Teal Mask Ogerpon ex. Once you power up your Raging Bolt ex. Start to feed the bench pokemon energy so you can keep two energy on raging bolt ex at all times. Your second priority is to power up another Raging Bolt ex, then start feeding Teal Mask Ogerpon ex for another attack option.

How to Play Teal Mask Ogerpon ex

With Teal Mask Ogerpon ex, your main goal is to quickly accelerate Raging Bolt ex by discarding energy on turn one, going second. If you go second on turn one, you can use a supporter, thus Professor Sada’s Research. This will allow you to attach energy from the discard pile and your hand. You will also draw three cards, and then you want to load your bench up with multiple Teal Mask Ogerpon ex and Radiant Greninja.

From this point, discard lighting and fighting energy when you have Professor Sada’s research, which you can attach to Raging Bolt ex. Also, have a backup Raging Bolt ex on the bench in case it gets knocked out. Place a Bravery Charm on your active pokemon to keep it from an early knockout. Once Raging Bolt Ex is powered up (can be on turn one), go for knockouts by discarding energy from your bench Pokemon if possible.

The biggest weakness you will encounter with this deck is lower prize cards and Iono or Unfair Stamp. If you dump all of your energy for a Charizard Ex knockout, the opponent will likely counter with an Iono. This is why you want to try to power up your backline as much as possible and avoid an entire energy dump where your active Pokemon has nothing left.

Sample Hand with Teal Mask Ogerpon ex

Sample Hand Pokemon TCG Teal Mask Ogerpon ex

With a sample hand below, we discard and draw a massive amount of cards:

  • 1 Teal Mask Ogerpon ex
  • 1 grass energy
  • 1 Bravery Charm
  • 1 Unfair Stamp
  • 1 Bug Catching Set
  • 1 Counter Catcher
  • 1 Raidant Greninja
  • 1 Professor Sada’s Vitality

Your first goal is to use Radiant Greninja’s ability to draw two cards rather than one with Ogerpon. We drew a Squawk, allowing us to discard our entire hand. Moreover, you can return that card to our hands for energy retrieval and feed it to Teal Mask Ogerpon ex. Using its ability, we gained a Nest ball, which we will select Raging Bolt ex, then retreat Ogerpon and discard an energy. From here, we use Professor Sada’s, which isn’t ideal for attaching grass energy, but it’s drawing power.

Turn One with Pokemon TCG Teal Mask Ogerpon ex

Next, we attach fighting energy, Bravey Charm and set up our back line. The next turn, we can feed another grass energy, attach lighting to Raging Bolt, and do a 350-damage knockout if needed. Moreover, you would play your Iono depending on what you drew. What seems like a bad hand with a coupling of drawing cards turns into a monster!
