Rimworld Odyssey, the new DLC for the base game, places you in a Starting Scenario known as the Gravship. It’s your base, and you’ll start off with only a handful of colonists and a ship that’s running on legacy Gravtech. Even your supplies are limited. The game allows you to start with the default Starting Scenario or edit it to remove any potential threats.

You can also create a custom Gravship for your Starting Scenario for the DLC. In the following guide, we’ll explore the intricacies of the Starting Scenario in Rimworld Odyssey.

How Does the Default Starting Scenario in Rimworld Odyssey Work?

The default Starting Scenario represents how the game wants you to play the DLC. If you choose this option, you will begin with the following:

  • A Gravship
  • Legacy or old Gravtech
  • A few colonists
  • A map showing salvage spots nearby
  • You’ll face a timed threat from Pursuing Mechanoids, who’ll force your ship to keep moving. The impending threat will also make you use whatever resources you have carefully.
  • The Gravship will have basic ship parts installed, including the engine, console, fuel tank, and thrusters

It’s possible to remove the timed threat in the default Starting Scenario. To do that, simply open up the Scenario Editor and click on Gravship. Next, find the trash icon next to the Pursuing Mechanoid event and click on it to delete this particular threat. Don’t forget to save this scenario once you’re done editing.

Keep in mind that editing your Starting Scenario will only allow you to remove the timed threat. All other factors will remain the same. If you want further changes to the scenario, you’ll need to create a custom Starting Scenario.

How To Create a Custom Starting Scenario in Rimworld Odyssey

To begin a custom Starting Scenario, you’ll need to head to the Scenario Editor. There, choose the Arrival Method as Gravship. Doing this will get you suits but won’t give you a ship. To get a working ship, you’ll need to do the following.

  • Set the number of Starting People or colonists
  • Choose the Forced Health Condition settings
  • Set the Food Need settings

Once these are done, you should turn on Dev Mode. This will enable you to add ship parts so that you can begin with a working ship.

  • Step 1: You will need to add Gravship Substructure tiles.
  • Step 2: Add a Grav Engine
  • Step 3: Add the other parts, including the Chemfuel Tank, Pilot Console, and Small Thrusters
  • Step 4: Add at least 200 Chemfuel

After all of these settings are complete, you will need to save the Starting Scenario you created and then begin playing.
