In this guide, we’ll take a look at Starjacks in Rimworld Odyssey, including what they are and their best uses.

With its latest DLC, Rimworld has made massive changes to its core gameplay. The biggest among them is the ability to build and maintain your mobile Gravship, which is capable of space flight. You can now fly off in your ship to explore derelict spaceships and asteroids in outer space. However, this change has also led to several others, one of them being the introduction of a new Xenotype named Starjack.
In the following guide, we’ll delve deep into Starjacks in Rimworld Odyssey and the role they can play as colonists.
What Are Starjacks in Rimworld Odyssey?

Starjacks are a type of Xenotype that’s primarily suited for work on deep space Gravships or platforms. They have very minimal survival capabilities on the ground, so sending them outdoors to hunt or fight is a bad move. Instead, their assignments should revolve around Gravship maintenance. The following are some of their stats:
- Complexity: 11
- Metabolic efficiency: +1
- Vacuum resistance: +45%
- Heat tolerant: They boost max comfortable temps by +10 degrees Celsius
- Cold tolerant: They also boost the minimum comfortable temps.
- No outdoor need
Apart from these, they have the following Combat and Construction Genes:
- Melee: Minus 4 aptitude
- Melee damage: 50%
- Mining: Minus 8 aptitude
- Plants: Minus 4 aptitude
- Animals: Minus 4 aptitude
- Construction: +8 aptitude and 1 construction passion
As you can see, Starjacks are perfect for building things for you inside the Gravship. They do not perform well in other roles, such as mining or fighting.

How To Use Starjacks in Rimworld Odyssey
Make sure you assign these colonists to building and repairing Gravship modules. Their genes make them highly resistant to cold, heat, and vacuum. So they can perform equally well in diverse conditions. Also, they don’t require much food to survive, which should help minimize food shortages for other colonists.
We suggest using their talents in dangerous construction projects, such as near sealed rooms or heat vents. You can actually stack this Xenotype on ship module crafting or repair jobs to get through them quicker.
