The Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT are two of the best mid-range GPUs for 1440p gaming. Both cards are from the latest generations of GPUs from AMD and Nvidia, so they are capable of delivering fantastic performance and supporting the latest FSR 4 and DLSS 4 feature sets.

However, they are available in different price brackets, so people are confused about which one to buy. That’s why we’ve decided to compare the two graphics cards and help you choose the better one. In this article, you will find a detailed comparison of the two cards.

The Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti 16GB was released in April 2025, while the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB went on sale around two months later in June 2025. They both target mid-range 1440p gaming, and both claim to be the best in this category. Therefore, we must look at real-world benchmarks to understand which is better.

However, we must look at the specs of the two GPUs before we start comparing them. You will find their specs below:

Specs Comparison

Going by the specs, you would think the RTX 5060 Ti is a lot better since it has more than double the shader cores, higher RT cores, and faster memory. However, the Radeon RX 9060 XT has higher clock speeds and is built on a smaller node, which gives it a certain advantage. Not to mention, specs don’t always translate into real-world results.

Performance Benchmarks

It’s time we put the specs away and look at the actual benchmarks of the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB to find which is better. Here’s how the two cards perform in some of the popular games:

GamesNvidia RTX 5060 Ti 16GBAMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows41 FPS43 FPS
Doom: The Dark Ages54 FPS50 FPS
Clair Obscur: Expedition 3348 FPS48 FPS
Cyberpunk 207773 FPS75 FPS
Alan Wake 250 FPS47 FPS
Indiana Jones and The Great Circle69 FPS63 FPS
The Last of Us: Part 260 FPS51 FPS
Horizon Forbidden West60 FPS67 FPS

Note: The two GPUs here were tested at 1440p resolution with High/Ultra Settings unless mentioned otherwise. All the FPS numbers were sourced from the Iceberg Tech channel on YouTube. For the tests, the two graphics cards were tested with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU.

The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is only about 2.4% faster on average in the eight tested games compared to the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB, which is really not all that much. However, the differences in individual games can be larger, and the performance advantage could swing towards either AMD or Nvidia. Nonetheless, Nvidia wins in most of the games when ray tracing is enabled, but the performance difference isn’t as large as it used to be before.

This could only mean that AMD has significantly improved its ray tracing capabilities, just like the company mentioned during the launch of the Radeon 9000 series. However, Nvidia is still ahead, at least for now.

Price Comparison

The pricing is where there’s a big difference between the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB. The former costs $429, while the latter is only $349, making the Radeon card $80 cheaper. Now, that’s a significant price difference, which is bound to turn some heads towards the AMD GPU.

Final Verdict on RTX 5060 Ti 16GB vs Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB

The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is only about 2.4% faster on average compared to the Radeon RX 9060 XT. However, it also costs $80 more, which is a significant price premium. Although the RTX GPU is much better at ray tracing, so there’s that. The RTX 5060 Ti also has a more complete DLSS 4 feature set. However, the Radeon RX 9060 XT is yet to receive all the features in the FSR 4 feature set, such as Ray Regeneration, Neural Radiance Cache, and more. They will arrive later this year, so there’s not much to worry about.

The question you have to ask yourself is, is it worth paying $80 more? We don’t think so. We recommend getting the Radeon RX 9060 XT instead. You use the saved money on something else, like a better pair of DDR5 RAM kits. However, if ray tracing and DLSS are crucial for you, then you can go with the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.
