Path of Exile 2 brings back the classic Strength, Dex, and Int attributes in the new installment. Even if you are an old PoE fan, there are a few changes to the system that you may want to note before moving forward with it.

The attributes in question are for players to modify and invest in. This is how you enhance your class experience. So, players must choose carefully what to pick. If you are also somebody who is easily confused by this system, let us guide you a little.

In the original Path of Exile game, the class system worked slightly differently. Hence, the attributes at the time also had a different function. But now, the classes and ascendancy in PoE2 play differently. As a result, you must read to find out how each attribute helps you.

Explaining Strength, Dex, and Int in Path of Exile 2

Different Attributes and Their Functions

When somebody invests a point in the Strength attribute, they end up receiving +2 Life. Previously, in the first game, investing two points in Strength granted you +1 Life, and investing five points in it would have given you +1% Melee Physical Damage instead. This has been altered for the melee classes this time around. So, if you wish to invest in defense, this is the only attribute that will help you, while the damage can be increased by upgrading your gear.

Dexterity is helpful in classes that deal with martial and ranged damage, including the Mercenary and the Monk. Investing a point in this attribute will grant you a +5 Accuracy Rating. As a result, you are less likely to miss your attacks and skills. However, this doesn’t work for the Sorceress because her attacks aren’t accuracy-based.

Instead, classes that deal with magic should focus on Intelligence. Each point invested here results in an increased +2 Mana. This is majorly useful for players who take up magical classes.

What Is the Final Verdict

Other than the functions we described, choosing a stat over others also determines the kind of loot that your enemies drop for you. It works the same in co-op as well because each player playing in the same world will have separate loot to reduce competition.

In the end, it all boils down to your preferences and classes. Strength is an attribute that none of the classes should ignore because it increases your defense stats. However, if you are a melee player, we suggest that you focus on it. Dexterity should be the priority for ranged players and Intelligence for those who deal with magic.

Try prioritizing the attributes you absolutely require. This will give you access to better and more specific loot pretty early on in the game. Later, you can think about investing in an attribute that you don’t utilize much.
