Let me take you through a simple walkthrough on how to complete the Collapsing Star Side Mission in Split Fiction.
I hear you’re in the mood for some Star Wars? Well fret not as this next side mission will take you to a galaxy far far away. Escape the fury of the sun and find a way to destroy it. Have a blast while you’re at it.
After using the projectile to break the glass, an interactable grapple is revealed. Spring forward and latch on to the hanging pillar outside. Scale up the pillar to the very top and jump on the ledge to your left. An ice spike will drop, breaking your path by a bit, without causing much trouble to your travel. Jump from your ledge to the other.
At the end of the other ledge, interact with the grapple to your left and spring to the next ledge. Proceed further, hopping from pillar to pillar till you reach a tower. Jump inside to find a glowing orb that will teleport you to the Collapsing Star side mission.
Stage 1
A cutscene triggers, showing the area around you being engulfed in destruction. Your first task is to run through the door in front of you. Run down the stairs and do a wall run to get across the broken platform in front. Jump to the other side and run to the entrance where two interactable machines are located.
Once interacted, a door opens up revealing a dying sun. Run forward and keep an eye on the sun. The moment the sun expands inside its barrier, it will emit a devastating blow, which will kill you both.
There are barriers on the path of your run where you can stand and shield yourself during these moments. Once you reach the last barrier, take a left, interact with the grapple, and swing your way to the ledge. Run your way forward, ascend the ladder, and take a left.
Another door shows up with two interactable buttons. Upon interacting, the door opens, and you enter a greenhouse. Run forward towards the barrier at the center of the room before the sun emits its rays.
Continue to sprint and use the moving trains on your path to block the sun’s rays. At the end of the run, grapple towards the interactable and swing across to the other side. Wait for the sun behind a wall and then continue to run to your right.
Stage 2
Run to the interactable machine on the lift. Upon interacting, the lift descends. The sun rays cause the lift to malfunction, sending you both crashing down. A platformer perspective triggers with you both beginning to run from the right side.
You are tasked with avoiding the obstacles on the ventilator as you run in the opposite direction. Use the barrier to shield yourself from the sun while you are at it.
The next explosion opens your path, revealing a jump for the two of you to get across. There’s a button pillar on the next jump, needing one of you two to stand on, allowing the other to jump on top of a moving platform. When the player leaves the button, the platform raises back up.
One of you will play from the top, while the other from the bottom, assisting each other in the proceeding. First, the player on top has to jump on the next button pole, raising a bridge for the player at the bottom to cross.
Once the player on the bottom crosses, you have to stand on the button to lower the wall blocking the path of the player on top. Now cross over to the next platform. This same sequence will repeat three times.
After the last one, a lift is available for the two of you to enter and interact with. Once the lift reaches up, jump across the poles hanging in your path. Use the barriers to escape the sun. On the last pole, scale to the top along with the barrier, and wait for the sun’s rays to clear before leaping on the surface to your right.
Stage 3
Once you enter the door, the game returns to its third-perspective stage. Run to the right side, enter the room, and turn to your left. Make your way across the room by leaping onto poles and grappling with interactables where required.
Once on the other side, leave the room and hide behind the first barrier in sight. Interact with the grapple as you both get propelled forward. Now you are entering a fast-paced sequence.
Run towards the first interactable and hold them down together to form a shield. Once the sun cools down, sprint forward to the next barrier. Once the sun cools down again, sprint to the next interactable shield, form it again and block the sun. Sprint forward during the cool down and hide behind the barriers ahead.
With the next cool-down, sprint across some spinning cylinders and quickly hide behind the next set of barriers before being struck by the sun. Jump towards the last platform and make your way to the left. Quickly interact with the next grapple and watch as you get propelled to the next platform. Make your way to the next barriers while evading the sun.
Now make your way across the pits. You will have to time your jumps on the buttons on your path to form the shields before the sun kills you. There are three stages to this. Jump on and form the shield, wait for the sun to attack, and wait for the cool-down.
Now proceed to the next one. After the last shield formation, run to the next barrier where you will find moveable shields which have a cool-down period. So, use them wisely. Make your way down the path and time your defenses. Reach the barrier in the front and interact with the machine to open a path.
Stage 4
Run across the bridge as you continue to time your shield defenses against the sun. The frequency of the sun’s attacks is magnified. Alternate your shield defenses one by one to not be affected by the cool-down.
Use each other’s shields to protect the two of you. Reach the machine at the end of your path and interact with it. This will engage a concentrated attack on the sun from cannons. Tap the buttons when prompted and watch the sun get pulverized.
This action causes the formation of a black hole. Patiently wait as you get sucked into the void and teleport back into the tower you had initially teleported from.
