‘The Forge of Progress’ quest in Stalker 2 is one of the best main story quests in the game. The quest revolves around a mysterious anomaly that has appeared in the Cryptobiology Laboratory, necessitating immediate intervention. The anomaly has thwarted the testing of the Alpha artifact, and it is up to Skif to investigate the issue and deal with it. The quest takes you through beautiful yet horrifying locations and culminates with a memorable encounter with the anomaly that is disrupting procedures in the institute.

In this guide, we will go over the ‘The Forge of Progress’ quest in Stalker 2 and how to complete it.

How To Complete the Forge of Progress

You begin the quest by talking to Dr. Kryvenko in the SIRCAA region. The doctor informs you of an anomaly in the Cryptobiology Laboratory. He requests you to investigate what he believes is a spatial anomaly. However, he mentions that the lab’s regular entrances are sealed due to the emergency, and it can only be accessed through the ventilation shafts.

Head to the second floor of the building and past the engineering deck to exit to the roof. Drop down to the lower level and follow the GPS marker across the courtyard to reach the ventilation shaft entrance. Break the wooden planks blocking the entrance to make way.

The Ventilation Shaft

The path through the ventilation shafts is straightforward. Take the path straight and past the spiral stairs to enter a big hall. Make your way through the hall and drop down the ladder at the very end. Continue below, and you will be greeted by a swarm of rats in a circular room. Head to the other end of the room, where you will find a locked ladder. Shoot the lock to drop the ladder and climb it to reach the upper level.

The Detention Cells

Continue on the path forward, and you will come to a room filled with mutants. Fight them off and continue down the halls, where you will hear a scientist calling for help near the detention cells. While it is an optional objective, we recommend helping him out. Rescue the scientist from the mutated creatures, and he will reward you with the storeroom keycard.

Head to the upper floor, where you will encounter armed enemies. Fight them off and continue ahead. The room on the right at the end of the hallway is the storeroom. You can use the key to enter and loot the items. Once done, head out and follow the path opposite the storeroom.

The Obstacle Course

As you follow the path, you will enter a large warehouse with storage boxes arranged in the form of mazes. Climb on top of these boxes, and you’ll see your way forward atop the boxes. Jump across the gaps and on the boxes to make your way across the warehouse. Take your time, be patient, and avoid falling through the gaps.

The Puzzle Rooms

After the warehouse is a large room with a control panel at the center. This panel has four buttons that you need to press in the correct sequence. Press the buttons in the following sequence to pass through: 1, 3, 4, 2.

The room ahead is filled with toxic gas leaking. You have to turn off three valves to stop the gas from leaking further. The first valve is atop the ladder in the small room, the second is at the center, and the third is towards the right. Follow the path straight, and you will reach the spatial anomaly. Leap into the spatial anomaly to complete the objective and reach the Abandoned Facility.

Abandoned Facility

The path through the facility is linear but filled with enemies. Fight your way past the enemies to reach Prof. Hermann. A cutscene will then play out, and the professor will unlock a door for you. Go past the door and down the halls to reach him, which will trigger another cutscene. Hermann will then leap into the anomaly, and you should do the same. You will have to fight a few mutants along the way, so be prepared. After a few skirmishes with mutants, you will reach the base, completing the ‘The Forge of Progress’ quest.
